Ease of use, great picture, great value January 9, 2009 I really like this frame. I was able to dump over 3000 pictures onto a memory card and simply turn the unit on. A slide show began shortly thereafter.
There is really nothing else to say. For the price, you can't beat this digital frame.
Highly Recommended!
Kodak Easyshare P720 Digital Picture Frame January 9, 2009 This item was easy to use - it was a great gift, I was able to put over 300 pictures on it and get it mailed off within minutes of opening the box. My cousin loved it.
Kodak Digital W1020 Picture Frame January 9, 2009 The picture frame has a lot of features and is user friendly. The frame has the ability to wirlessly scan your network and collect photos, videos and music for playing. Basically you can play items from its internal memory, SD/Memory cards attached, Your Kodak Gallery Albums, Flickr or your network by selecting the source.
It also has web channels such as weather, sports, etc. that you can see highlights. The touch screen boarder is mostly responsive and works the majority of the time. Sometimes I have to push the buttons multiple times to get a function to work.
The picture quality of the photos on the frame are pretty good, and the frame has various transitions, intervals, and scheduling on/off.
What I don't like. For some reason the included Digital Display Software is not stable on my Windows XP machine and after installing/removing it about a dozen times I can't get it to work. On my Vista machine the software works fine... but.. The software does not detect the picture frame on my network so I am unable to wirelessly drag-n-drop/copy pictures from my computer to the frame. This is very annoying and is driving my crazy because it is a core basic function I can't get to work. Of course, I can put a picture on my network and the frame will fine it, but I can't get a picture put on my SD card wirelessly.
I called Kodak support and they are Worthless!! I have spoken to 3 individuals which have poor communication skills and really do not know anything about the product and offer no assistance. Moreover, for over two weeks I have requested to speak to a product engineer without any luck. Basically the techical support is devoid of any knowledge about the product. This is a problem with such a large company. I did not have these issues with my Cevia picture frame. When I called customer service they knew the product.
In summary I really like the product, but it may go back to Amazon if I don't get a resolution to the wireless issue.
Kodak wireless W820 frame problematic on macs January 8, 2009 I spent the entire morning trying to get this frame to make a direct wireless connection with my MacBook Pro, but the only way to connect seems to be via a webpage that only allows basic configuration of the frame. How can a major corporation produce a product like this and say it is Mac compatible and get away with it? Two hours with Kodak's online tech support yielded no solution either. My questions have been 'escalated', so we'll see if they get back to me. Really frustrating and annoying, and without a fix Kodak has lost a customer.
UNRELIABLE SOFTWARE TRYING TO DO TOO MUCH January 8, 2009 I AM 68 YEARS OLD BUT I KNOW HOW TO SET UP AND MAINTAIN MY LOCAL WIRELESS NETWORK WITH 3 COMPUTERS. THE KODAK SOFTWARE IS SLOW AND UNRELIABLE. IT LOCKS YOU OUT FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. IF YOU HAVE 13,000 PHOTOS ON ONE HARD DISC ALONE IT WILL TAKE YOU FOREVER TO CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO SHOW. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A RANDOM WAY TO SHOW PHOTOS ON ANY OR ALL OF YOUR HARD DISCS LIKE A SCREEN SAVER WILL DO ON YOUR COMPUTER. LARGE NUMBER OF PHOTOS SIMPLY CONFUSES THE SOFTWARE. MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER ON YOUR NETWORK WILL CAUSE CONFUSION TO THE SOFTWARE. THE NETWORK WILL REQUIRE YOU TO CHOOSE ONE MACHINE TO READ. IT MAY SIMPLY BE A LACK OF MEMORY ON THE KODAK FRAME THAT WASTES TIME. THE PRIMARY GOAL OF KODAK IS TO SELL YOU THINGS ON THEIR WEB SITE.
IF YOU WANT TO PAY THEM FOR SENDING YOUR DATA ELSEWHERE OR COPY PHOTOS SENT TO YOU BY OTHERS,YOU CAN WASTE ALOT OF TIME. LIFE IS SHORT . PUTTING A MEMORY STICK INTO THE FRAME TO COPY TO THE INTERNAL MEMORY IS SLOW AND TEDIOUS.HAVING A SMALL FAST COMPUTER NEAR THE FRAME TO CONNECT WITH A USB CORD IS MORE REALISTIC DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF YOUR LIBRARY. MAYBE THE NEXT ITERATION WILL MAKE THINGS EASIER. I HAVE ANOTHER FRAME THAT TRIES TO DO LESS AND DOES IT WELL.
