5 out of 5 stars "Universal" Remote for my needs   November 25, 2008
I started looking for a universal remote when I decided to build my own PVR as I was inundated by remotes. I read reviews for the Logitech Harmony and the Universal brand remotes. After careful examination and seeing that I could get pretty much the same remote for about [...] less with built in RF capability I decided to go with the Universal RF20.

The main reason for my purchase was to consolidate all my remotes TV, Audio, DVD, and PVR into one, and with the RF20 I was able to do it just fine. I gave this product a 5 start rating because I found what I was looking for with some extra features.

Setting up the remote took about half hour with reading the manual and getting all of the buttons mapped out to my other remotes. The Pre-Programmed codes worked with all my devices with some minor tweaks to my PVR.

Adding macros to turn on and off your TV and Audio was easy and allows for a very enjoyable TV viewing experience. I also set the remote to control my volume while having the remote under the Aux section that controls my PVR.

The PowerBlaster is a great investment if you wish to hide or control your devices from another room. This is good for when you are listening to music to just skip to the next track or to turn down the volume if you get a phone call. It took me a while to find a spot that did not interfere with my wireless router but once I found the right spot it was smooth sailing for me. It can also benefit you if you wish to hide your devices behind a cabinet or in another room away from your TV.

Overall if you are looking for a way to consolidate all your remotes into one with out all the looks and price of the Harmony, the RF20 is the one for you. I would recommend this remote to anyone in the market for a universal remote.

4 out of 5 stars RF20 Remote   November 23, 2008
URC RFS200 PowerPak Bundle w/ MasterControl RF20 and PowerBlaster

I purchased two of these for the IR/RF capabilities and have not been disappointed. This si a great first remote, I say first because it is not color. This is an easy to program and use remote, even my wife can use it :)

5 out of 5 stars Great Product   October 28, 2008
The remote and remote blaster works great. I have my equipment in a remote closet and the TV in the living room. Took awhile to set up the remote, but if you read the book you should have no problems. This is one drawback of this product, you have to read the instructions. If you can not read and follow basic instructions, do not order this product.
I looked at several other brands before buying and it is the best product out there, for the money.

The unit does exactly what is advertised to do and it does it extremely well. Easy to set up and receives radio remote control signal from anywhere in the house.

5 out of 5 stars Great Option for Most Users!   October 24, 2008

I just received my new RFS200 PowerPak Bundle yesterday and I am very pleased with the product. I had all of my components (Projector, HD/DVR, Audio Receiever, DVD) programmed and working through RF (radio frequency) in 2 hours (components are in a closet). I was a little nervous about the purchase because the RF Harmony 890 remote was so much more expensive and was wondering why this remote was so reasonable (under $80 for the pack). Needless to say I am very happy with my decision. I'm sure the Harmony remotes have their advantages, but for the average everyday home theatre owner, this remote will be all you will ever need.

I never used the DVD supplied with the package because the manual was very descriptive and easy to read. As far as the pre-programmed codes are concerned I really only used 2 of them (Comcast Motorola HD/DVR and LG DVD player). The JVC Audio Receiver and Panasonic Projector I programmed in Learn Mode which was very easy as well.

Macros were straight forward and easy enough to understand. The macro functionality is pretty basic so if I had to guess, that's where the serious home theatre owner would want to go with a more expensive unit like the Harmony 890. But like I mentioned before, most of us would never need it.

Great remote, great value.
