Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
Unreal Tournament earned "action game of the year" accolades from GameSpot, CNET Gamecenter, and Amazon.com. While other games matched it for single-player and online multiplayer deathmatch excitement, UT stood out as the best team-based action game of 1999. Players duel with sci-fi weapons in such diverse environments as a rocking pirate ship, an amphibious invasion in World War II, and opposing guard towers atop a wildly spinning asteroid.

Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition includes 70 new maps and three new modes from which to choose. Tactical Ops is a team-play mode, based around two teams--the elite Special Forces and a gathering of terrorist groups from around the world. Tactical Ops introduces realistic weapons, maps from actual locations, and never-before-seen scenarios. Rocket Arena is classic one-on-one deathmatch combat with all the weapons at your disposal. Chaos features crazy new weapons, such as a broadsword, living proximity mines that yell at your opponent, and even a small black hole.

5 out of 5 stars The all-time coolest FPS   December 31, 2002

Unreal Tournament. The ultimate FPS. Need I say anything further? Well, if I do, I'll start at the beginning. In Unreal Tournament(UT), you play as a sci-fi gladiator fighting in a massive galactic tournament. Despite it's age, the graphics are still impressive, and run well even on older machines. A variety of maps from a high-speed spaceship to an ancient temple to a gothic castle are all beautiful. Four game types iDeathmatch, an all out killing spree, Capture the Flag, attempting to capture the oponents flag to score points, Domination, holding checkpoints to rack up the highest score, and Assault, achieving objectives in an amount of time are the single player game types, with an additional Team Deathmatch, Rocket Arena, and Last Man standing modes for multiplayer allow for a wide variety of game types. To assist you in these game types is a widely varied arsenal of 12 weapons from ultraaccurate sniper to the devastating, short range impact hammer to the classic rocket launcher. I could go on all day sounding like an advertisement for this game, but trust me, it the closest thing to perfection I've ever seen in a game.

5 out of 5 stars MMMMMONSTER HIT!   October 31, 2002
I love this game! This is probably the best multiplayer shooter ever! The guns are great (go Redeemer!), the levels are amazing (I love Facing Worlds), and the graphics are A1. The pace is the game is very fast, and you must constantly be ready to defend yourself, or attack, whichever comes first. The modes are great. Assault is a great original creation. You must take over an enemy's base in a certain amount of time, then you must defend that same base, and the enemy has to take it over quicker than it took you. The only problem is that there are too few levels, but the ones that we have are great, including the Normandy beach level. This game will have you hooked forever.

Unreal Tournament is an awesome game. It is the best shooter other than Halo. There are tons of weapons and items. It is a must have for all gamers. I like all of the maps and each one is detailed and realistic. Great game!

4 out of 5 stars One of the greatest MULTIPLAYER GAMES ever   April 23, 2002

I love this game. It is truly a great game, but there was one big problem with it. The game was basically one big multiplayer game. The only exception is Assault where you have to achieve certain objectives to move on and conquer the other teams base. Although this might disappoint some true fans of UT I prefer Halo over this game. The multiplayer in Halo is almost the same although I love in UT how you can download infinite ammounts of modifications (like new weapons, levels, characters, modes, etc.) which make the game never boring. Here's how it goes. Also I loved the weapons in this game. The alternate fire is really coo. It's fun to find out which gun to use and figure out what to do with it in certain situations. If you want a strong 1 player mode stick with the Wolfensteins and Medal of Honors, but you should definitely buy this game no matter what.
