It was not what i expected. i use to own the original M and M game and it was a blast. i dont like not being able to see my characters. it is all first person views and i dont like that for an RPG game

I've always loved the Might & Magic series and this one is no exception. I love first person, turn-based-party games. I have been dumb enough to periodically waste money on some of the various third person games out there like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, but I hate third person and cannot get into it at all. Might & Magic does not have that problem.
This game is the fist in the series along with MM-7 and MM-8. This one may be the best of the three as it was the start since 3DO revamped their older engine. I have become so engrossed it them that I have played all three at least three times each. There is no other game that even comes close.
Despite the crudeness factor, I love the graphics. The spell system is just right, and I don't mind all the monster bashing. The story kept me engaged each time I played, even knowing the outcome the second and third time around. MM-7 and MM-8 added tweaks to improve things but this one is still my favorite.
I just wish someone would continue the series in the same format with maybe 3-D graphics but the same game play and all the rest. I give a hats off to the Might & Magic Tribute people who are doing it on their own, since no company seems interested in doing it.
Highly recommended.
It was too dated even for me.. January 14, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I still play Baldur's gate without a problem as to the graphics and so forth. However, the lack of mouse control in this one really lost me. I didn't want to take the time to learn a whole new system of movement in order to play the game. I might add that I have been gaming since I was reading a text line about the mailbox in front of the little house.
