4 out of 5 stars i need more...   July 25, 2002

If you've played all the Quake you can get your hands on, including the mission packs, this is the only place left really. I've done half life, unreal and red faction in an attempt to dim my quake urges but nothing worked except Quake 3! All I can say is I NEED MORE QUAKE!

4 out of 5 stars It's a first person shooter, what did you expected?   April 13, 2002

Quake has been known as being one of the best in the relm of first person shooters. For the most part I agree. It holds your attention, provides hours of decent gameplay, and keeps you coming back for more. However like many first person shooters of it's time it followed the typical sci-fi feel. With games like Half Life,Aliens vs Predator, Unreal it just seems to hit on the nail that it is a sci-fi game. Thus we get some easily recognizable feel.

THis game has a story (very shallow but it's a first person shooter). You play one of four cahrtacters who goes through the realm of combat, starting from slave and ending in overlord. TO win the levels are multiplayer style events. Kill most creatures, Capture the flag, and so on. You get the basic idea. YOu are graded on performance and get your stats increased accordingly. SO if play more defense, you defense will grow faster but offense will not, and vice-versa.

Overall it is really meant for multiple players. Otherwise your just not having as much fun.

3 out of 5 stars FUN GAMES horrible controll   March 22, 2002

I do agree this game is very fun. But I hate the controlls. trying to straf becomes a art of finger flixablity. The level of difficulty is very nice and the multiplayer modes kick [behind]!!!

THis game is probably the second best shooter on Ps2 the fisrt duh Red Faction.

I didn't find the controlls to be clumsy. I happen to like movement/straife on the left and look on the right analog. Many people I know however, don't. Other than that, the game is an excellent challenge when put on the easiest level. Make sure you have your memory card, which they don't seem to be able to stock anywhere in Louisville, Kentucky. I love the graphics, moveability, weapons, and enemies. Drawback: it is set-up only as a deathmatch type game, as opposed to the doom challenge of getting through the levels.
