Product Description Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented is a haunting Japanese style horror game where nightmares become reality. A young woman named Rei is having twisted nightmares. These dark dreams take her to the "House of Sleep", where she encounters hideously tortured souls who are being overtaken by a curse. Meanwhile, a deadly tattoo and deadllier secrets of life and death are waiting to destory her, unless she is quick enough to stop it. But Rei's dreams is only the beginning of the nightmare, making Fatal Frame III: The Tormented the most terrifying virtual experience to date.

Fatal Frame Knows Horror June 22, 2008 I was freaked out when I played Fatal Frame 1 even more when I played II. And then came fatal Frame III and it blew my mind. All the game critics who complain about the camera fights suck dont know how to play the game. Fatal Frame puts you in perspective as if you really in a scary position. If you had a ghost in real life to try and spook you out, do you really think your going to take time to take a descent picture. By the time you get the camera out, the ghost is in your face. Then you snap the picture. Theres where you get the mega points and buy upgrades for the camera. You can even get upgrades that allow you to "freeze" the ghost and he or she stands still for about 5 sec which gives you time to get a bout 3 awsome pics that lead to major points. Also people who compaire this game to Resident Evil and Silent Hill are insane. The game play and story line are no where near the same. Resident Evil deals with zombies not ghosts just like Silent Hill. So RE and SH are the same story line but Fatal Frame deals with spirits ONLY. Get your facts straight people. I believe theres one person on this page that said this game plays like RE but says He never played the RE games. If youve never played the game how can you say that it plays the same as another. Well hope this reveiw helps someone out. thanks for taking the time reading this long A$$ review
Disappointed ... again ... April 3, 2007 2 out of 11 found this review helpful
Fatal Frame III AKA Project Zero 3, I must say, is a disappointed for me and probably other fans of the Silent Hill or Resident Evil series. I've never played any of the Resident Evil games, but I guess I am going to have to now, because as I understand it Resident Evil games play like Silent Hill. The Fatal Frame and Clock Tower series do not.
The graphics and sound are great, but not particularly remarkable so that you forget the fact that you've got nothing but a pain in the arse camera to fend off ghosts with which, by the way, are almost too fast for you to take a pictures for points with.
God .. and the reading? Pages upon pages of it. If I wasn't a student, a mother, and a terrible wife, I'd probably have a lot more time to read all the "interesting story revealing" text, but I don't.
I don't have time to wake up, run down stairs, talk to suki (forgot her name), send her on infomissions, develop more film, run back up stairs, force myself to sleep, have another nightmare where I run through a not all that spooky villiage trying to take pictures of ghosts who are too fast for me and my clumsy camera until I get to the boss who is even more difficult to fatally frame! ARGH!
I only have time to quickly turn on my PS2, wait for all the loading screens, and lay down the law on creepy monsters whilst solving marginally annoying puzzels until I get to the big boss where it may take a couple of lives until I finally work him (or her) over. Now that's fun!
Fatal frame 3 is NOT for people who have time management problems. It is NOT for people who just want to kill monsters with whatever artillery the software developer dreams up. It is for people who have a lot of time, patience, who like to read. I like to read. Novels. Not video game storylines. FF3 does not keep it simple.
I gave it two stars because the graphics are pretty. But folks, don't buy this unless you're really hard up on horror survival games to play. Same goes for Clock Tower 3.
What a let down! Fatal Frame 1 and 2 were MUCH more fun! February 15, 2007 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was so very excited to play this game because I LOVED the first and ESPECIALLY the second, but it was a huge let down. Every thing is way too wordy and the monsters suck to try to kill compared with the first so it is hard but mostly it is just BORING because there is so much READING! Don't get me wrong, I love games with mysteries but all the reading was just stupid stuff that didn't matter and there would be huge long paragraphs of it! Don't waste your money... =(
"Big brother's over here." July 12, 2006 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
In True fatal frame series style Tecmo delivers yet another wonderful game.
Another masterfully created and creepy world is explored in the third installment of this game series. As with the other games there is a sadness and loss present in the atmosphere of the game..the idea is that when you loose someone and cant move on you are lured to the manor of sleep and drawn further in by the person you lost. As you play the game you unravel the mystery of what happened and the heartache and loss suffered by all trapped there but especially the priestess. I also loved the fact that you got to revisit place from previous games and got to see characters from those games. Miku re-appears in this game and is once again chasing the brother she lost. Mio and Mayu are seen again as well but you do not play them instead you play their uncle Kei who is trying to help as the surviving sister is drawn further into the manor of sleep. Your main character is Rei. She is drawn in by Yuu. Her fiance who was killed in an accident while Rei was driving, she blames herself for his death. The story is amazing it weaves around and contains a few surprises if you pay attention and read everything you find. The sound effects are creepy especially when you walk down halls and hear ghosts talking almost too quietly to understand. The graphics and cut scenes are incredible and the ending nearly had me crying. Once again the music choices for this game as with the others were perfect. If you're into survival horror or Japanese horror at all you have to play this game....you wont be disappointed!
To Take a Page from IGN, it's "Scary as hell!" June 6, 2006 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
I have a confession to make, I've never played the first two games on any system, not the PS2 nor the X-Box. Simply put, I was mildly interested in doing so, but I didn't feel like paying the 40 - 50 bucks for the games, and I was skeptical about how scary the games truly could be. I mean, after playing through Resident Evil and Silent Hill among many other horror games, I thought nothing could scare me anymore.
That all changed thanks to YouTube.com, I saw AMVs set to Fatal Frames 1, 2 and 3 scenes, and was blown away, in particular one that was set to Cold's "Rain Song" was poewrful and moving. I knew then and there that I had to get at least one of the Fatal Frame games, I didn't care which one it was.
Sure enough, as soon as I got to my local EB, right in front of me was the box with the title Fatal Frame III, I had asked if they had any of the other two out of curiousity, unfortunately they did not. Hut I was happy to be able to pick up Fatal Frame III regardless. As soon as I got home, I popped it in, and the rest was history.
I was immediately pulled into the opening scene where the main character, a certain Rei Kurosawa (of no relation to Yae and Sae of Fatal Frame II fame) was checking the damage of the accident that she had just caused, and found her fiancee's lifeless body within the car. Then about ten days later Rei and her assistant, Miku Hinasaki (yes folks, that one from the first Fatal Frame) were photographing a mansion that was rumoured to be haunted. Rei had a daydream, and this was a great way to start you off in getting to know the physics of this game, and how it works. It was all in black and white though, and yes, that DID hamper things a little bit. But all in all, I could tell I was going to be in for one helluva good time.
Once that part was over, it was time to move on to the real meat and potatoes, the main game itself. I started off in Rei's home initially, and kinda diddled around a little to get the feel. Then as soon as I entered the Manor of Sleep, it was all done. I was screaming every 10 or so minutes while I was in that nightmareish realm, especially when I saw a ghost appear.
Though I've long since gotten used to the mechanics of this game, it STILL has moments where it scares the daylights out of me and cause me to swear my lungs off. I can honestly say this is the scariest, as well as the best, survival horror game I've ever played. The graphics are gorgeous, even rivaling Resident Evil on the Cube in terms of overall detail. And the battling is top notch, it really puts a new spin on "In Your Face" to put it simple. You have to let the enemies come to you in order to do any damage. The only complaint is the running, which is no more than a gentle jog. I am overweight, and even I could run faster than that!
But that's just one small thing on an otherwise awesome game. The best part of it all is not the graphics, gameplay, or even the story, nope, I would have to say it's the atmosphere. It pulls you right in, and at times is so scary that you want to turn your PS2 off, but you can't because you're dying to find out what is going to happen next. To me, that is the sign of a true horror game. One that is twisted, scary, and most importantly, engrossing. I've never played a game where I simultaneously wanted to shut my system off, but at the same time, find out what the hell was going to happen next.
To sum things up, it's wonderful, and a must-play for any and all true survival horror fans. It's believable compared to most others too, and the further you go along, the more and more gruesome it gets until it's chilling climax. Trust me, no words can describe it, get out there and play this game now!
