"This one lost its pizzazz" March 17, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Of all the animated shows to cross over into videogames, one would think that "Futurama" would translate the best. Whether it's the off-color characters, the crazy scenarios or the bizarre plot-lines, "Futurama," as a videogame, was almost guaranteed to be a good time. However, when you actually sit down and play it, it's shocking just how pedestrian and bland it really is. Granted, playing as Fry, Leela, Bender and even Dr. Zoidberg is enough to put a grin on any fan's face (especially since all the voice actors reprise their roles), but what the game gives you is a whole lot of nothing. You'll walk around shooting at monsters, aliens and robots, climbing high and collecting a whole lot of stuff that you never really have a use for. There are a few tricky parts here and there, and a few stages in the game -- especially one send-off of an infamous "Indiana Jones" scene -- show just a little of how good the game could actually be, but for the most part, it's redundant.
To help the cause, there is enough of a story in the game that it could be seen as a "lost episode" of sorts. In fact, if you're really starved for new "Futurama" after you've gone through all the DVD's countless times, it's a plus to have this game around. Even if the gameplay is a little stale, it's at least nice to have one videogame based on the most underrated animated sitcom ever. It's not as good a licensed game as, say, "The Simpsons Hit & Run" but it's a decent way to pass an afternoon, which is about all it'll take to get through this game. Is it worth picking up used at the usual asking price? Depends on how big a fan you are. If you can accept that it's not going to live up to any expectations in your head, it'll be worth checking out.

This game is so cool man it's about time they did a good tv related game. It'll be sweet if they made a family guy game. Futrama is so cool the game is tons of fun.
Fun for the whole family!...except grandma and grandpa. March 26, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
In the game you play more than 20 levels and have to explore places shown in the show! Each character posseses their own abilities and certain levels!Fry has guns, hismain one being a pistol.Bender has spin and shoulder moves.Leela has the ability to use martial arts moves.Zoid-berg has 1 level to ride on an alien. The basic story:The professor has happily told the crew he has sold Planet Express to Mom.A news reporter has told people on television that now Mom owns more than 50% of earth.Mom announces that everyone is now her slave and that everyone has to be home by curfew or they will be shot and killed by her robots. The crew decide to leave earth, but the ship is wanged up(you'll find out close to the end). The professor asks everyone to help and tells fry to find him a hammer.Fry is killed but is quickly revived by the professor's new machine which gives you extra lives.Fry has to get extra tools to help fix the ship. The one thing that's to bad to run is the dark matter engine.Fry goes to get the engine by going through sewers, subways,Old New York, the red light district, and the city. You can play more than twice that, but the game, nontheless is fun and hard.Unlike the simpson games, you can't go back and get the rest, it makes it fun, hard, and longlasting! Don't you ever trade it unless it's on your life or others!
A bit difficult, but fun March 1, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The graphics are very, very, very good. It's not quite the same as the real show, but it's close enough. You get to play as Fry, Leela, Bender, and Zoidberg. Zoidberg is only playable in one level. It was kind of tough, but I enjoyed it. There are lots of little suprises. For example, Fry can use a hammer and a futuristic gun, Leela does a sort of spin kick, and Bender spins without moving his head. Fry's health is recharged with slurm. It's fun to explore the areas you see on the show. If I could, I would give it more than five stars.
