Amazon.com Product Description
A series of grisly murders brings Lara Croft into conflict with a sinister alchemist from the past and a secret alliance of powerful individuals shrouded in mystery. At the center of the conflict are the Obscura paintings, five 14th-century pieces of art that the alchemist is desperate to repossess. Accused of the murder of her one-time mentor, Werner Von Croy, Lara becomes a fugitive. Pursued by the police, she follows the alchemist into a dark world of blood, betrayal, and vengeance. It's up to Lara to defeat this unholy alliance and stop the villains from unleashing their incredible powers on the world.

2 out of 5 stars Angel of Lameness: more fun than going to the dentist, slightly   June 17, 2008
Ok where to start... I see that a lot of people love this game. Great! Please but my copy assuming I don't use it for a coaster first. If this is your first Tomb Raider experience, you really owe it to yourself to get the others, and experiment with the effects that microwaves have on PS2 games with this one, because that is more fun than this game. If you are new to Tomb Raider, the controls in the other games have more of a natural and intuitive "pick up and play feel." The controls in "Angel of Lameness" are wanky, akward, and take too long to respond. Climbing a simple ledge and jumping a simple short distance are nearly impossible to accurately and fluidly pull off. This, combined with the fact that there is a limited amount of time you can hang on to ledges provides hours of fun for the whole family to watch their favorite PS heroine fall to her death while attempting jumps that a retarded goldfish could probably land. Want to go up a ladder? Yeah, me too. If you enjoy the Matrix, you might appreciate the insanely slow glitch parts, and coincidentally you'll have enough time to go watch all of the Matrix movies while you wait. I gave this game 2 stars, because I figure its more fun than going to the dentist.

5 out of 5 stars Tomb Raider The; Angel Of Darkness   May 22, 2008
Tomb Raider; The Angel Of Darkness is really a fun game, The controls may have been sluggish but the game itself was very entertaining, and having a another character to control was also new and refreshing. I could not put it down.

1 out of 5 stars Extremely Disappointing!   May 2, 2008

The first Tomb Raider was what got me interested in the Playstation console. Over the years they've gotten progressively better. Then there was a long lapse between the 4th installment and now. What in the world happened!??!

This title is utterly useless. The controls are terrible. The camera angle is annoying and the levels are very uninspiring. Then you have this interaction with other humans that is just useless. You choose certain sentences and that is supposed to alter the game somewhat. All it does is use up precious game space on the disc. Utterly useless!!!

The music, is beautiful. But these games are known for their music. The graphics are nice, when you can see them. The game is way too dark. I know it supposed to be dark as you are in a tomb, or cavern, but it doesn't have to be that dark to where you can't see certain objects or other nuances.

I also judge a game on how I can just sit and play without reading. In this instance, I had to consult the manual because the controls weren't intuitive. Like the auto-aim and manual aim. Some of the "bosses" were so lame. At first you think it's going to be a challenge. But, you try and try and try, and you can't beat it. Then you do the unthinkable. You consult the web for a walkthrough and when you read it, it's like, "How dumb is that!!". After performing the moves to kill the creature, it was really quick and not very satisifying.

They include this lame "Making of" which is supposed to be insight on how the game was designed and what it took. All it did was waste space on the DVD. Who cares how you made the game. It didn't give any special insight into the way it was created because the game itself is terrible!!

Overall this game left a very bad taste in my mouth. One that I hope will not resurface in the next installment.

My recommendation is to skip this one. If I could give it less than one star I would, but Amazon doesn't have that option.

4 out of 5 stars Very Enjoyable!   January 8, 2008
I'm surprised that this game has received so many negative reviews. It's the first Tomb Raider game that I've ever played and, having read the bad reviews, I was expecting it to be truly abysmal. Were people playing a different game to me?? The graphics are excellent! The gameplay is thoroughly enjoyable, with lots of puzzles, etc. and it's HUGE! Lara does take some getting used to in the way she moves but I've had no real difficulty, and I'm a complete novice. The scenarios are very varied. True, the first few levels are set on the streets of Paris and are a bit boring but then it really takes off. The sewers under the city, inside the Louvre museum and the archealogical dig in the Louvre basement. And then you get a colossal, beautiful tomb to explore: the Tomb of the Ancients with the Hall of the Seasons and many sub levels leading from it, like the Breath of Hades or Neptune's Hall! The rendering here is very beautiful, with lots of jumping, climbing, lever-pulling, creature-killing, puzzle-solving, etc. I loved every second of it. And then you're still only half-way through the game! I can't wait to play Legends and Anniversary, as well as trying out The Last Revelation. Give Angel of Darkness a try. It's a lot of fun and nowhere near as bad as people are making out.

2 out of 5 stars It sucks   November 15, 2007
When I first saw this game,I was happy that another Tomb Raider game came out.

When you first begin to have make Lara get "stronger" and it was really hard for me to make sure my jumps were lined up correctly.

I think Eidos should've spent a little more time on making this game. And also the game was way too easy to beat.

Because I didn't like so much, clearly this was the worse Tomb Raider game I've ever played.
