Amazon.com Product Description
This story-driven action game seamlessly combines dynamic space- and ground-based combat with exploration and investigation. Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter takes place hundreds of years in the future, when both human and alien settlers are rapidly colonizing the galaxy. You will assume the role of Mace Griffin, a special ops officer turned bounty hunter, as he unravels a dangerous mystery. The game offers seamless transition between first-person combat and space-flight actions, and an epic story with the pacing and drama of a blockbuster movie.

Consistent flight control and weapons management systems make it easy to navigate both in space and on the ground, and to pilot six different ships, from alien fighters to massive carriers. There are lifelike nonplayer characters whose reactions depend on their varying intelligence, bravery, health, and weapons. The "rag doll" IK system creates realistic results when a character is shot or hit. The game's diverse missions, which may be story driven or incidental, take place in a wide array of walk-around environments, each with its own physics, obstacles, inhabitants, and creatures.

4 out of 5 stars A challenging title for the serious FPS gamer...   September 25, 2003

Firstly, to rebut the "Deeply Flawed" review, the game is not buggy on Xbox. The problems c_thulhu is describing are related to either his game disc itself, or more likely the Xbox itself (or both). I had similar problems with my first Xbox and game, but exchanged the Xbox and the problems vanished.

The gamer from Detroit sounds like a younger player. This is a mature game for mature players. No game is Halo except Halo. Mace Griffin is a difficult game better suited to experienced player. There are no adjustable difficulty settings. The robot things will go down, but it takes a whole machine gun clip. allthingsdork has a much more accurate take on the game.

One of the challenges of this game is that you can't "run and gun". You need to pick your targets and shoot from cover as much as possible as you are always outnumbered. Advancing is difficult in places because you often have to create your path by exploding something to create bridges or ramps, do a lot of pinpoint jumping, crawl through vents, etc. It frequently is not obvious as to how to get from point A to point B. You have to take time to analyze your environment. The save points are infrequent and far apart. There is a nice variety of weapons to use. The sniper rifle is probably the best I've used in any game. If you want crazy fun in a shooter, play Serious Sam. If you want a real challenge, play Mace Griffin.

1 out of 5 stars Deeply Flawed   August 30, 2003
This game had great potential, the graphics and sound are awesome. That's really the only positive thing I can say about it. The game seems to be buggy on Xbox. Every once in a while, when you complete an objective, "Objective Completed" flashes acoss the screen. The next objective may not be triggered. Now you've got nothing to do but restart it and hope it lets you move on next time. It will let you eventually if you don't mind repeating the levels over and over. After getting sick of this, I got disgusted and handed it over to my brother to try on his Xbox. The results were the same. Don't waste your money!

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing. Not even worth a rental   August 12, 2003

Sorry, this is a disappointment. Went out to buy it first thing. No Halo. Part of the problem is just feels to realistic. You keep shooting these robot like things and they don't fall down. Also, the concept is sort of stupid. The robots have weird faces, etc. It was just very disappointing.
