5 out of 5 stars Bloody Hell   September 13, 2005

Shell Shock is a game that starts out with you getting drafted to fight for your county in the Vietnam conflict. You start off just doing simple missions (just kind of running errands). Soon you discover the Vietnamese leader who has been nick named King Kong. He tortures the capured soliders to death and puts their heads on pikes.
Durning the game you are mostly just trying find "King Kong". This game has very wide selection of wepons which is what I like the most about the game. The reason I titled this review "Bloody Hell" is because this is one of the bloodiest games I have ever played! You can think of almost any body part and it can get shot off.
I ussaly don't like third person shooter games, but for Shell Shock I made an exception, this game needs to be third person to see all your enemies around you. Also I almost forgot to say is that this game has the best gernade effects that I have ever seen! This is a fantasic game so go play it!!!!

5 out of 5 stars [...] all you picky whiney little stinking.........   July 27, 2005

this video game kicks butt,ok?its that simple.its extremely violent and realistic.ive heard people complain because of the stupidest things like thier heads explode like confetti.well,my brother is a marine and he says at point blank range and if using a rifle a head would go up like confetti.so i commend x-box for its realism.im so sick of all these cry babies out there who whine everytime a videogame company doesnt go inside thier mind and derive images and ideas to put in thier video games so its perfect for everybody.its hard work.give this people a freaking break, already!that being said some cool features involve boom boom long time, straight forward action, napalm, very graphic violence and everything youve heard about nam and worse.ive already seen suicide, murdered civilians, stacked bodies, watched the enemy burn to death in a napalm bath, seen g.i.'s heads planted on posts as wards to future visitors, been offered porn and seen a very large warning on a vc stronghold that says "welcome to hell" in blood.i was pretty impressed.i saw the commercial on another cool video game called backyard wrestling 2.if its bloody enough for the insane clown posee, you know youre getting your blood banks worth.

3 out of 5 stars Lots of Blood - Bordering on Gratuitous   December 19, 2004
4 out of 5 found this review helpful

If you're looking for a true immersive experience in combat-ridden Vietnam of the late 60s, this mature title might fit the bill.

You work your way through the conflicts in Vietnam, starting as a green rookie and learning skills and techniques as you go. There are squad blasting missions, sneaky missions, missions where you need to slay a certain person, and other missions where you just shoot everyone in sight.

The graphics are reasonably good - trees have individual leaves, the helmets have sayings scrawled on them, bursts of blood come out from shots. The weapons and outfits are well done.

The sound goes for realistic over arcady. You don't get fun bouncy soundtracks as you fight you rway through the jungle - instead you're surrounded by gunfire, the shouting of your commander's orders and the cries of the wounded. It does get a little repetitive, though, as you hear "destroy that tunnel!" for the 20th time in a row.

There are booby traps and tunnels, napalm and death. You shoot women in the head, see hands blown off. In general this game really earns its mature rating. Heads burst like a balloon, and some of the mission situations are questionable. If I was a Vietnam Vet (or a Vietnamese person for that matter) I'd be pretty annoyed at the portrayal of what an 'average soldier' was like.

If you're a shooter fan and are looking for lots of blood, and can disconnect the game with the history it's playing, then you might enjoy this. But if you're really a fan of the military and of realistic shooters, there are other games on the market that are better to spend your money on.

This game is really awsome. i think this is the most realistic veitnam game i have played.it has tons of blood and all of the action is gory. if you throw a grenade at someone they will go into a million peices. the weapons are very good to. if you like war i think you should get this game.
