Bilbo has a kind, simple demeanor, is in his middle years, and from the

The Hobbit September 12, 2008 'The Hobbit' is a fun game to play for the Xbox. Though the game looks like it is meant more for kids, it is actually meant for all audiences to play because it isn't that easy: though not really too challenging either. Due to excellent cut-scenes and areas (levels) from the game that are read about in the book, the story line alomost relates perfectly to J.R.R. Tolkien's story masterpiece. The graphics, which is much like 'The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker', are great! The beautiful lush and gloomy environments that are presented in this game offer a brilliant view of Middle-earth. Most of the characters in 'The Hobbit' look as is described in the book. However character detail should have been done a little better graphic wise. The sound fx are well done. The music score sounds exceptable and goes along great with this game. The controls are easy to deal with and the learning curve is about a half hour. The gameplay is descent at best. There is a lot of puzzle solving, dangerous obstacles to go through, and fighting to do in 'The Hobbit' which makes it very strategic. There are only two things I disslike about this game: the camera angles and combat system. I have noticed that in some points of the game that the camera angle will get way out of place which causes me to mess up. Fighting enemies is fun, but not when you are fighting more than one enemy at a time. The game allows you to lock on to one enemy at a time while fighting. Sure it helps when you are fighting one enemy but it doesn't really help when you are fighting multiple goblins, spiders, wolves, etc. at one time. And the fact you can't block any enemy attacks down grades the combat system a bit more. But, don't get me wrong, it is still very fun and addictive to kill enemies. On the whole 'The Hobbit' is a very fun video game for the Xbox. Whether or not you are a die hard fan of Tolkien I think everyone who loves action/adventure games for the Xbox aught to give 'The Hobbit' a try.
The following is based on my own opinion:
Graphics: 4.8/5.0 Sound: 5.0/5.0 Story: 4.9/5.0 Gameplay: 4.2/5.0 Value: 4.6/5.0
Overall Score: 4.7/5.0
Gave this as a gift and the kids still play them all the time December 28, 2007 Kids love this game (and all the LOTR Xbox games) so I gues its a great Xbox game. I have not played it but I asked them to rate it and they said 4 stars in both categories.
Excellent Game! September 24, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I and my 6yr old son have enjoyed this game so much! The narration almost stayed true to the original story. It is quite challenging at certain levels. But soon even kids can defeat wight lord!I think it is one of the best games we played so far. Shrek 2 was fun as well as Spyro a hero's tail and finding Nemo. Most of the games available in this platform are rated Teen or Mature which is not suitable for small kids either because of the difficulty or graphic content. Very few games are really worth spending your money and Hobbit is worth every penny. If anyone likes my list and have any suggestions for new game please let me know so that I can play them.

Great Game!! Just Like the Book!! December 20, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am a really big LOTR fan.:) I have read the Hobbit three times and love it!!:) I love the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and am sooooo glad they made a great game for a great book!! The story line is like this... thrirteen dwarfs come to a hobbit's house ( the hobbit's name is Bilbo Baggins) and ask him to be a burgler to get their treasure back from the dragon Smaug. So you journey through the book to the lonely mountain. It is a great game but there are some complaints, the graphics aren't that great. The dwarfs get captured to much and you get lost almost every level. The end is very weird, you push a barrel and set off a big contraption and get hit in the head with a rock. The End? WHAT!!!!!:( Not the greatest ending, huh? Oh well, If you have read the book or love LOTR this is the game for you. WARNING!!!!!:o If you love games where you just kill Orcs the whole time this is not the game for you!!!!! Thank you!:) I personally love this game because of the detailed environments and wonderful levels! Two last complaints, when I was reading I was not picturing a red curly haired hobbit. And last is Sting is glowing blue all the time!!!!!:( Overall this game is great and follows the book almost right on and only adds fun things to the story, like meeting and helping other dwarfs, elfs, and men! Definately get this game and have fun!!!!!:)
