Combat Elite WWII February 2, 2007 the game is well worth playing but is much like other war games. The graphics and realism makes it worth the overall playing experience rates #5...

I waited for over a year for this title to be released. What a huge disappointment. Its a great concept very poorly applied. Using the same graphics engine as was used on 'Bauldur's Gate' this game could have been great.
As it is, this game is purely an exercise in frustration. Enemies shoot you far off screen. While the compass helps offset this handicap, it still is a major irritation and makes the game near impossible on 'hard' when a single shot from the enemy can kill you.
It includes the ability to 'upgrade' your character's skills which is cool. The graphics are well done, but load times, again, are irritating and w/o save points within any given level.
The "Options" menu is fairly useless. You can adjust the 'blood' level, but I could not discern any difference (on its highest level there is still little to no blood). There is no option to 'invert' aiming, etc.
As a casual gamer, I finished the game in less than a week. If you really went at it you could easily finish the game in a weekend rental.
This could and should have been a unique addition to a flooded market of WWII games. Sadly it will be hitting the bargin bin very soon due to poor application and bland gameplay.
