2 out of 5 stars Its OK   March 16, 2008
I loved Unreal. I bought it for the PC about the same time I played Half-Life. Both game's graphics and storyline were unbeatable at the time, only to be beaten by Halo. Halo is now the standard.

So now I have an Xbox. I have played both Halo and Halo2. I have beat the game muliple times and we play huge deathmatches as well. Face it. Halo is the standard and this is now what you have to measure up to.

Enter Unreal II. I find it sluggish and buggy. It takes too long to load and there is a lot of extra cut scene mumbo jumbo that just wastes time. The character build up is pointless, and the voiceover of John, our hereo, sounds more like a pharmacist that a space warrior.

The graphics are pretty good, but they all are these days. i mean, why do you play? To kill, right? Plus, I have found that the weapons (at first) all look alike. The grenade launcher looks like the shotgun looks like the flame thrower (etc.). But soon yo figure out the subtle differences.

But hey, I only paid a few bucks for it at gamespot. I am glad I did not pay full price. Half Life 2 was a great positive step up. Unreal seems like a step backwards.

5 out of 5 stars From an Unreal long-time fan   February 5, 2008
I have been playing the Unreal series since I was about 6 years old and I remember buying this game with my dad and we had played it for hours. Now I have gotten it on the Xbox and I love it...PLUS IT HAS CO-OP! Co-Op for me is like the greatest thing other than the online multiplayer. If you played the first Unreal on the PC and liked it (you better have...lol) then you will love this one. Sure it isn't exactly from the first one's universe but there are many things that will remind you of it. One of the greatest battles was the Boss that was like a huge spider with tiny spiders everywhere. That one took forever (but in a good way)! Very fun and I hope to see you online!

3 out of 5 stars A fun way to kill some time   January 11, 2008
I've read a lot of negative reviews on this site for this product, and feel I need to address a few things in fairness. This game was designed for (at the time) high-end PCs. This is very clearly a port, and as such the graphics did indeed take a hit. That being said, this doesn't affect gameplay whatsoever. The dialogue in the cut-scenes was originally meant to be optional depending on who you spoke to in the removed "free-roaming" mode, and what you said to them. It makes the conversations feel very awkward and long. The variety in environments is nice, and the difficulty felt appropriate to the situations. None of the missions were boring, and some showed a real spark of creativity. If you played "Mace Griffin" or any of the "007" titles, you have a good idea what to expect. I would recommend this title for around $10.00. It would get a better score if the fact that it is a port wasn't so glaringly obvious. For 360 owners, this title is NOT backwards compatable.

5 out of 5 stars Great Game   April 11, 2007

Great game for the casual gamer. Good graphics, lots of great weapons and not too hard. Some games of this type can be very frustrating for people that are not hard core gamers. This game is great because it's a blast to kick but!

1 out of 5 stars This May Be the Worst Game of Ever   December 18, 2006
I played this game for 3 minutes and it didnt take me long to realize how horrible this game was. The first enemy I incountered I shot down and it had two frames of animation. Doom 3D had better graphics and animation than this steaming pile. There is nothing about this game that merrites a $40 price tag. Stay away from this game! I use the word game only becuase it is only playable by a gaming system. This is just one of the horrible games that came into existince since the first Halo came out.
