4 out of 5 stars WOW its pretty much just like the console version!!!   July 31, 2008
I had already played the 360 version of this game and enjoyed it. I figured I would pick this up for some portable action, expecting it to be really toned down. Boy I was wrong, excellent graphics for the PSP and once you get used to the controls (which is more the PSPs fault and not the games) it is a blast to play. It has everything the original had and more, awesome game.

5 out of 5 stars Your "Gun" Fix On The Go   May 22, 2008
Its still a good game, the PS2 game is still the best platform to play this game on. They kinda (must have)shrunk some of the things into a smaller package. Best thing to do is own both. Theres no other horses around besides your own, its kinda fun to steal one. And the biggest bummer, theres not people wandering around on the PSP one. It's still a fun game worth having, even better to own both types.

3 out of 5 stars Great game... but lost in the translation to PSP   April 6, 2008

First just let me start by saying that i love "Gun" and i count it as one of my favorite games of all time . With that being said , I'm not crazy about this PSP version for two reasons

- Controls : Simply put the controls are VERY frustrating and there's quite a bit of a learning curve.. especially for those that are used to the console versions. Because of the PSPs lack of a second analog button as well as the analogs inability to "click" as L3 and R3 buttons it throws the entire control scheme out of wack. The circle , X , triangle , and square buttons act as your missing right analog stick. This makes for some ackward movements [especially when trying to aim diagonally]. This is frustrating in itself but it becomes almost unbearable when you realize how difficult it is switching weapons , reloading , and most importantly using the ZOOM on the Rifle. There is no easy way to use the zoom when you're in the middle of a fire fight. Forget about it. You have to press a direction on the D-pad while hitting the square button if i remember correctly. It might not sound like a big deal but remember that your using your PSP analog stick to move and your main buttons to aim. Basically its very VERY ackward and way too difficult to pull off such a simple action in the heat of the moment. Maybe after several hours of play you can train yourself to use these controls but as a huge fan of the game i can barely get into it because the controls are so bad. They did the best with what they had to work with i suppose... It's really just a bad pairing between the game and with what the psp offers in terms of available buttons.

Camera : As stated in another review the camera is too close to your character and he's intentionally off center to the left. This just feels and looks weird. It' not bad enough to ruin the game but it will throw you off from time to time and as one previous reviewer said it can definitely be claustrophobic in certain areas.

If you love the game and can get this version for $9 to $15 then i'd say it's not a bad buy but i HIGHLY RECOMMEND you play it or rent it first because if you liked the console versions you may be disappointed and frustrated with this one.

I'd give GUN the game 5 stars but this one only deserves 2 or 3

4 out of 5 stars Unique western shooter.   April 5, 2008
Gun is a unique shooter/action game focused on the old West. Although it is quite fun, many of the action sequences are short lived so there seems to be alot waiting for the game to load. Also when you complete or quit a challenge you are left in the middle of nowhere and have to ride back to town before continuing. The game was otherwise pretty good with a variety of action and interesting weapons and upgrades.

5 out of 5 stars Great Game with Good Story line   January 21, 2008
This game is very good...graphics, sound and story line are catchy and the game is easy enough for anyone to play as it doesn't require complex button combinations. However, please note the "M" for mature gamers as the language doesn't make this a game for younger kids.
