The Star Wars saga will continue in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a videogame developed by LucasArts, which casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.

As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force. The PSP version will not only give you a solid story-line developed by LucasArts involving the Darth Vader's secret apprentice, but you'll experience fun mobile gameplay only the PSP can offer. With graphics comparable to PS2 you'll be able to easily immerse yourself into the game and battle your way through enemies utilizing your Lightsaber attacks and Force powers. You can also try your Jedi skills against a friend in the PSP's "Battle Mode." Joining the Dark Side doesn't seem like such a bad idea after all.

Game Features:
  • During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
  • Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos.
  • Examples of unleashing the Force in ways never thought possible:
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls.
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
  • In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader.
  • Visit locations such as Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility.
  • The PSP game system's "Battle Mode," a one on one fighting arena similar to the classic game, Star Wars: Masters of Teraes Kaesi.
  • LucasArts is preparing an unprecedented promotional effort around the launch of The Force Unleashed, encompassing a full line of toys and game-based action figures from Hasbro, as well as a full publishing program from Dark Horse, Del Rey and Palace Press.

Meet the Cast
The Star Wars Saga will continue in 2008 with LucasArts' biggest-ever video game event. Set during the "dark times" between Episodes III and IV, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed portrays the previously untold story of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice -- and now you can put a face to that mysterious character as well as the major supporting cast members as LucasArts unveils the actors set to star in The Force Unleashed.

The Cast of The Force Unleashed

The Technology of The Force Unleashed
With The Force Unleashed, LucasArts not only introduces a new chapter in the Star Wars saga, but also pushes the PSP's game engine to deliver amazing detail and realism only found in a Star Wars title. You will experience gameplay and the Force like you never had before.

5 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun to Play   January 3, 2009
I've had this game for a couple of months, and still I'm addicted to it. There are so many ways to kill a storm trooper, its like a drug. If you're feeling like doing it the simple (boring) way, you can use your lightsaber a few times to slash through their armor. Or, as the game implies, you can "unleash" your force powers. You can strike your foe with a barrage of lighting, pick him up and choke him to death, use repulse to knock over your opponents nearby, throw your lightsaber, or simply pick up one foe and push him into another, killing both.

Although I feel as if I'm missing something by not owning the console version, such as more powerful graphics and more explanation of the story line, this game still has a powerful tale. Although many reviews mention slow loading times (and trust me, there are), I find that it doesn't take away from the overall experience. So what if there's a wait? Its fun all the same to pick up enemies on certain levels, tilt the joystick in the right direction, and then release them while they fall to their death.

While the game is challenging, neither is it impossible. The hardest part about killing the bosses at the end of each level is the time it takes. They have just as much health as you, if not more.

So, if you're looking for some portable entertainment, I would definitely recommend this game.

4 out of 5 stars Great and Awsome Star Wars fun For the PSP   January 2, 2009
This game is great for the PSP. The game has 2 storylines, but you dont choose the one you want to play. The 1st time you do the story you do the more true one, they are both excacly the same except the end, the 1st one is, when you defeat vader (not kill) you push him into the emporers place then you fight the emporer and defeat him (not kill) the apprentice (the player) has the emporer at saber point. Then the pilot of the rogue shadow(love intrest) busts in and lands and saves everyone then the apprentice leaves the emporer but when he is about to go into the rogue shadow the emporer kills him. Then it shows the birth of the rebellion. The second one I really hate he kills vader and when the pilot bursts in the emporer throws the ship down and it explodes and everyone dies except the emporer so then emporer takes the apprentice and then turns him into this sick version of vader and the emporer tells him that the rest of his life is going to suck. That is why I gave it 4 stars in total.

5 out of 5 stars STAR WARS THE FORCE UNLEASHED   December 30, 2008
ESTE ES UN REGALO DE NAVIDAD ES UN JUEGO MUY DIFICIL PERO NO SOLO HAY QUE PELEAR CON LOS JEDI TANBIEN TIENES QUE USAR LA FUERSA Y USAR LA MENTE EN TODOS LOS NIVELES Y TODOS LOS QUE VAYAN A COMPRAR ESTE JUEGO HAY QUE PENSARLO BIEN...ME LO REGALO SANTA,YO TENGO 7 ANOS Y ME GUSTA MUCHO LAS GUERRAS DE LAS GALAXIAS.

5 out of 5 stars Feel the force   December 28, 2008
The lightsaber combat is excellent , but the best part of the game is the force . In other games you simply use the force to open doors and to move small rocks . In this game , you can pick up whole statues and throw them at hundreds of miles per hour . you must buy this game .

5 out of 5 stars CAMERA LACKS. OVERALL, GREAT GAME   December 6, 2008
I can honestly say the camera is my biggest beef. Other than, that I think it is great - Crisis Core and Chains of Olympus in one.

I believe the Star Wars franchise has been milked enough. It is through games like Force Unleashed that it will continue live on.

Another reason I like FUL, is you can use force powers. Also, this game would have been great if it had the CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE feel to it, meaning you decide at certain points the out come of the game for unlimited endings.

This is Star Wars. Take advantage of the video game universe.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions - LIKE THE WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, AND WHY OF THE TRUE ORIGIN OF "THE FORCE" ITSELF, NOT THE ONES WHO HAS AND USES IT.

I hope CRISIS CORE, CHAINS OF OLYMPUS, AND FORCE UNLEASHED GIVES THE "FFVII REMAKE" SOME INSPIRATION.
