EVERYONE Pilates! September 3, 2008 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
I love Pilates and didn't worry very much about the pictures.
Simple routines. Simple workout. But it's good to keep up when you're away from home and this game was good for that.
No, it's not the same as working out with a personal trainer. But it costs less than ONE session.
love it! August 16, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have a few work out games and this is my fav by far; lets you pick how long you want to work out plus what you want to do! easy to follow, love it.
Not user friendly or fun August 7, 2008 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
I love Pilates and have been doing it for several years, I've even gone through teacher training. I hoped this game would be a fun way to take new routines with me when I travel, to keep me on track and mix things up. Unfortunately, I found Let's Pilates to be difficult to follow and extremely annoying.
Pilates requires you to lay on the floor and use both hands for most of the exercises, yet the game offers very little audio guidance and requires you to be able to SEE the screen - nearly impossible when lying on your back. You have to keep stopping your exercise in order to get up and see what the heck you're supposed to be doing. Then when you do look, the animated avatar is demonstrating VERY poor form - if you arch your back that much doing Pilates, you are going to wind up in traction!
To "reward" you for completing challenges (usually learning a new Pilates move), you get to see your "Pila-Tree" grow, which is just completely retarded. You watch a little animated video with dew-drop characters making annoying noises, I swear it's worse than an animated show for toddlers. Not very rewarding! I liked unlocking new outfits and hairstyles for the avatar (okay that's dorky too, but I like it) but the way the game puts it together, it's just not much fun.
It's sister game, Let's Yoga, on the other hand is put together VERY well and is a great investment. The moves are safe and easy to follow and effective, very relaxing and fun. Both games were released on the same day by the same company, and I feel cheated! They obviously put a lot more work into Let's Yoga - if they had delayed Let's Pilates for a few months, maybe it could have been just as good.
I really wanted to like this game, but it sucks. Unsafe, hard to follow, not fun. After giving it a fair shake, I wound up selling it on Ebay.
It works! July 4, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought the Let's Pilates game to challenge myself and to have a DS game for myself. It works. As I sit here typing this review, my core is sore. (did I just rhyme? I didn't mean to!) I lay on my mat in my living room, put the DS on the floor and have a little work out of a pre-determined part of my body I decide to work on. It's great! I highly recommend it!
