4 out of 5 stars A Fairly Good Game   June 16, 2001

I hadn't played adv. games for awhile when I got this one and I thought I'd be alone throughout the game. Not so. It seemed, just when I really could use some company, someone turned up but you'd have to define someone loosely. The challenges were fair to middling on the difficulty scale which was perfect since I was out of practice. The storyline begins with a baffling mystery and a sense of, "Oh, boy, I'm in trouble here." and as it continues to unfold, becomes engrossing. Challenges remain true to the storyline which I greatly appreciated and the game moves forward in a natural way for the most part in spite of the inherit linear nature of adventure games. I truly enjoyed the sudden plot twists, the moments when I was startled and thought, "UH-OH.....what was that?" It was enough fun that it is unfortunate the only re-play value lay in putting it aside long enough to forget what the game and the story was even about and retaining backwards compatibility in your computer to play it again someday.
