4 out of 5 stars Great for mindless fun   December 5, 2005

Me and my college buds played this game practically everyday. Fun, fun, fun. 70 or so hits, oh yeah. It's got so-so graphics, I mean it's not Xbox 360, but it'll do for 64. It's got lots of options too, as many other people have pointed out. I'm not sure about realism, but you can certainly edit the settings to make the final score very realistic. If your looking for old school fun, this one should do you well.

5 out of 5 stars This is one heck of a hockey game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   July 9, 2004
This game rocks, the secret teams, the players, the goals and goalies, and everything! I've played a hockey game before--NHL Hitz 20-02--for PS2. This is THE game, not A game, THE game!

4 out of 5 stars A pleasent surprise.   May 25, 2002

A pleasent surprise. I really wasn't expecting Acclaim's hockey game ot be this good. It is a solid rookie effort, but there are some flaws surrounding it. EA does not have a competing game this year, so this is the best choice. I like it, but a little more polish from Acclaim would have lead to a classic title, instead of just a good title.

1 out of 5 stars testing the bounds of ice bound suckiness   May 16, 2001

Ditto. This is a horrible game. Being a hockey dufus, I too bought this game shortly after I bought the INFINITELY better nhl 99. I'f you love the coolest game on earth then this game isn't for you. I'd give 5 teeth just to be rid of the space this game takes up while it lays thankfully unplayed in a corner of my furnitureless apartment. Buy NHL 99. Yeah you may play in fantasy land scoring 15 goals in all but the highest difficulty level but you'll have fun doing it. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

5 out of 5 stars Breaks away from Bad N64 games   January 30, 2001

If N64 games were a pool, then some little kid peed in it. This game is the chlorine for that pool, it cleans up. The game is fun as a solo player or with multiple people. You can manage your own franchise from top to bottom. You can hire coaches with names like Igor "The Glove" and "Speedy". You can recruit your own talent and nuture them through their tough years in the AHL. You can even create your own players like the one they call Radio because he had a slapshot you could hear but not see. Buy this game it's the closest you'll ever actually come to Lord Stanley's Cup.
