I can't think of any other WWF game I prefer over Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game. Yeah, you only have 8 wrestlers and yes, you don't have very many options either, but this game is so incredibly fast and exciting and offers so much replay value that I can EASILY look past the few flaws.

Vince McMahon and Jerry "the king" Lawler call the matches, and sometimes they are really funny. Sometimes the game messes up and they repeat the same line two or three times in a row. They gave Vince more lines than Jerry, but you will hear both of them plenty of times while a match is going on. Maybe it's just my version but it sounds like Vince McMahon is saying "to the fake!" instead of "to the face!".

The loading time isn't THAT bad. You have to deal with a lot of loading times, but it isn't a long wait. They are much shorter than the loading times in future WWF Playstation games.

But DARN is it ever fun fighting your opponents in this game. Over and over and over! You can deliver combos (which are fun and easy to pull off, unlike in Mortal Kombat) and a ton of really cool moves. Unlike in other games you don't have to be fast to deliver a combo. You just have to hit the right buttons at the right times.

The thing that makes this game so special is the way the game company made all the regular moves look EXTREMELY devastating. A simple piledriver looks like the guys head is going to splatter! An uppercut can send someone WAY up high, to the point of reaching the lights at the top of the roof! The pace moves SO fast and has SO many cool moves to keep you interested, I can't help but love the heck out of this game.

You're probably thinking with all this fast-pace action the game must be hard. Nope. It's easy once you master the moves. But you have to master them because you have to be able to deliver them to your opponents as quickly as you can! You'll beat it eventually, though. A must buy!

4 out of 5 stars 8 wrestlers, voice overs, and fast paced arcade action   March 19, 2002

The first wrestling game to grace the Playstation, and it offers arcade-fighting action in and out of the ring. Arcade meaning that you press forward, forward punch to perform a move. There are only eight true to life superstars, Bret Hart, the Undertaker, HBK, Razor Ramon, Doink the Clown, Bam Bam Bigelow, Yokozuna, Lex Luger and one hidden superstar, so you may get bored with frequent matches. There are some incredible animations though, but it does get goofy though, with hit combinations, Lex Lugers arm turning into a mace, Bam Bam Bigelow is capable to light his opponents on fire with a diving head butt and other such odd things. Playstation makes great use of the sound qualities and the game has crystal clear sound and voiceovers from Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler doing commentary. The commentary might get repetitive to most people so the game even has the crowd scream things, boo and chant during the match. There is a Road to Wrestlemania mode for single players, which pits you in singles, two on one and three on one-handicap matches. It can get frustrating and tedious to go through those matches. The two player mode only has a huge battle royal mode in which a tag team together tries to defeat 12 wrestlers which come in one after another. While playing the two player mode can get annoying, because once you beat someone you must wait for the game to load as a new superstar runs out.

It was even worse then the Supernintendo one becuase atleast the supernintendo one loaded up quicker! It was the same exact thing and I was not impressed at all. Playstation games are suposed to have grpahics and if it is grpahics you want dont go with this game!

This game is SO cool. It's unrealistic but that's what makes it so cool! With eight of the WWF's finest superstars, this is a must buy for only .... Whether you want to send screaming souls at your opponents with the Undertaker, toss your opponent like a rag doll with Yokozuna, or lock your opponent in the sharpshooter with Bret Hart, this game is for you.
