you don't get much better than this November 12, 2008 sonic the hedgehog is AWSOME! it saved sega from defeat at the hand's of nintendo's big, gray box. the speed, music, graphics, and gamplay are all top knoch. it's easy and hard at the same time. it's games like this that make you want to shiver with excitment about what's going to happen next as you play.
if you don't have sonic the hedgehog, you do't have a genesis. simple as that.
Pure Genius! September 5, 2008 Back in 1991. A game called Sonic the Hedgehog was made...and it's greatness! Ever since I first played this game I still play it all of the time! The gameplay is amazing! It started a whole series that is still popular today! The graphics are stunning for its time, and I still enjoy them! Certaintly the best game on the Genesis(only serpassed by its sequels.) Buy this game! You won't regret it.
A GREAT SPEEDY CLASSIC 8.5 OUT OF 10 March 17, 2008 Sonic's days of glory may have ended when he tried to go 3D, but his Genesis adventures are among gaming's most memorable. In the usual classic Sonic formula you run at a high rate of speed at a 2D view in wonderfully detailed environments. The graphics look nice, which shouldn't be a surprise to any 16-bit fan. The controls work great and the sense of speed is awesome. Even though he doesn't have any teammates like in the sequel, you'll still have a great time playing as Sonic as you speed through the levels and solve some interesting puzzles to get past obstacles. There is no reason you should hate Sonic's Genesis adventures because they are still classic, and a lot of fun to play no matter how old you are as a gamer. If you like the retro oldies this game is a definite must-have for any retro fan. Why not higher than an 8.5 rating? The camera. The game's camera sometimes has a hard time trying to keep up with you, which will undoubtedly get you some cheap deaths unfortunately. But this game is hardly flawed, and is too much fun to really pick at.
Sonic's First Masterpiece February 17, 2008 This was the first Sonic game ever.It also is to this day still good. The plot is basic.Evil genius, known as Dr.Robotnik,is creating robots out of helpless animals. But there is one animal he can't catch. He is Sonic the Hedgehog.Out of all the Sonic games, this is the one with the best zones. My favorite is the Starlight Zone. This was revolutionary at the time, because there was much faster frame changing. The music(like in all Sonic games)is awesome, especially the Green Hill zone. This is a masterpiece that has survived the tests(and changes)of time.If you own a Genesis buy this game. You WILL love it.
a great game February 3, 2007 this is one of the many favorites of mine on sega games. this is the game that started the sonic craxe which lasted for about six years. (sonic is still cool but not on the genesis :( it came out a year before i was born but i played it at an early age (4 or 5) and loved it. its not as good as sonic 2 3 or sonic and knuckles but i love them all and especially suggest it to either a sonic megafan(like myself) or a collector or just someone into retro gaming, so get this cool game!
