AN ABYSMAL RACING EXPERIENCE 3 OUT OF 10 November 3, 2008
There are two genres that I love that my Genesis is sorely lacking. Space Combat and racing games. This is the only racing game I have for my beloved Genesis, AND BOY DOES IT SURE SUCK. This is the third worst racing game I've ever played. This Christmas, I'm probably going to buy Top Gear 2 for my Genesis (Even though I already have it on my SNES), just so I can have one good racing game.
WHAT THE GAME IS: Like the title says, it's a racing game where you drive Ferraris, only it sucks... VERY BADLY.
GRAPHICS: Static, blurry, and nasty pop-up ruin this game and cripples the entire experience.
MUSIC: There is only music on the menu screen and it sucks too like rest of the game.
SOUND: There is TOO much static, and the sound effects are very poorly done.
GAMEPLAY: Perhaps the game wouldn't have been a total loss if you could have options as to what kind of view you want of your vehicle. Your only option is cockpit view, which in turn, ruins the game because of the nasty pop-up and poorly designed tracks. You mostly have blindspots when racing because you can hardly see what's in front of you, not to mention you have no time to react to the random sign that appears and blocks your path. Good luck trying to win any races in this game because your vehicle is also slow. At least you can tune up your vehicle, but that's probably the only good aspect of this disastrous game.
OVERALL: Buy Top Gear 2 for the Genesis, it is a far superior racing game in every conceivable aspect.
THE GOOD: The tune-up and upgrade system.
THE BAD: Ugly graphics, static, horrific pop-up problems, bad cockpit view, and the awful music on the menu screen.
