Street Hoops is like the kid who shows up on the first day of school decked out in brand-new, brand-name duds, trying really hard to be cool and laid-back, while his rival (in this case, NBA Street) effortlessly oozes hip, relaxed charm. It's not that it's a bad game--it's that it could be so much more, if only it wasn't trying so hard, and in the most shallow ways. Everything about Hoops is overly complicated, with no real payoff. The players can be personalized and stylized--you get to pick haircuts, jewelry, tattoos, and clothing. But instead of being a cherry on top of an otherwise great game, this decoration is in some ways more interesting than the actual court time. This issue of mixed-up priorities really takes root in the mechanics of the game. Considering there's no tutorial, the overly designed controller configuration gets in the way of just starting up and playing the game for the fun of it. In another example, unless you assign controllers to teams in the opening menu, the game mysteriously starts playing itself. The music is great, with songs by mainstream hip-hop artists. But the abundance of tie-in deals seems like overcompensation for poor play. Hoops sometimes feels like a catalog, heavy with ads for clothing, sneakers and sunglasses. In a spectacular example of the obtrusiveness of this co-branding, gamers can get cheats by buying real-world Sprite (vending machines for the soda are also littered throughout the game maps). Still, there's a fair amount to recommend Hoops--mainly the presence of real-life street ballers. The opening cinematic of inspired tricking makes you want to invest the time to make this game pay off. Anyone who just wants to play a little ball with their friends--a pickup game instead of a tournament--would be better off looking to the unmatched NBA Street. --Jennifer Hauseman Pros: - Options like taunt and intentional foul evoke true baller bravado

This game is terrible. It tastes nasty. MLB Street is funner. In Street Hoops, you can get guys like Mario, Usher, and Ben Dover. I hate the way you only get 95 places teeto plkay. IatmealStr O

da best game ive eva played in my life. scru tha NBA, when due u c in a NBA game Allen Iverson puttin the ball thru the opponents legs, or Jordan breakin sumbudys ankles, ill tell u how many times.... neva. the NBA cant tuch the and1 playerz. these guyz wood shake, n brake ALL of the NBA playerz. when due u c in the NBA sumbudy throwin the ball off the shot clok n dunkin it, neva, when due u c full court alley oops, neva, but all of this is very common in the and1 mixtapes. ive ben a fan of the and1 players since volume 4 came out. when i saw this tape, i went crazy wit suma Hot Sauce's moves. the "all powerful" Jordan could barely touch Kobe, n this is how u want peeps 2 go owt n buy NBA street, aahh.... no. these ballaz wood anillate any of the NBA guyz, which is a great reason 2 go owt n buy this game, especially if ur tired of seeing people go back n forth, back n forth, maybe theyll due a dunk now n then but i hardly see any in the NBA. i watch all of the NBA games, n throughout the whole season youll probably only see 3 alley oops, wit and1, dats all youll c, n trust me, ull luv it!!!!!! if u wanna c guyz fallin, n broken ankles, n Main Event pullin off sum of his MONSTEROUS alley oops, then buy this. theres only wun draw bak 2 this game, they dont have all of the and1 guyz, they left owt: Skip 2 My Lou, Alimoe, High Octane, Escalade, 50, Flash, Sik Wit It, n Shane, but utha then that, i give this game a 15 out of 10, this game is 4 every balla owt there, the wuns who like challenges insted of just runnin n shootin, the guyz who like 2 pull of trix off their opponents n do head pops, trik the D n while hes recoverin pull off a perfect 3, peeps who enjoi the game of streetball, n live it 2 the fullest. guyz like me who can pull off crossovers, then switch 2 a kwik (wut i call: "my kangaroo") rite leg dribble bak n forth 2 a kwik over tha hed bounce n topd off wit da perfect jumper. u gotta get dis game if u got game, im talkin game that requires talent (the NBA is just luck: they LUCKILY pull of a dunk, and LUCKILY pull of a perfect 3) the streets is pure talent n these guyz havin ben playin since they were broke n in da streets, unlike most of the NBA dudes (cough cough... Jordan!!!!) if u dont believe me, as part of the mixtapes they get NBA players 2 go agenst these guyz, the NBA playerz get SHOOKD big tyme. (Hot Sauce even plays wit wun hand while sendin a message on his fone wit da utha). this is hard, n all u who say NBA street is the best, the NBA guyz have neva played or lived in the streets, so how can they make a streetball game, the NBA guyz live da life, they get paid millions, theyve neva ben in da street, they just made a game basd upon what they THINK the street is like, they no nutin, the and1 guyz have seen it first hand, so check owt streetball thru the eyes of people have had 2 work HARD 4 a livin, n nutin is handed 2 them, guyz who grew up in da street barely makin it, n no wut tha street life is like.

this game is perfect for the people who like to play nba games and go to the options screen to turn off all the fouls. you can push people down and ... and not get any penaltys.plus you can buy some special kicks,street gold, and some hip hop clothing. also you can get special haircuts and real brandname clothing, including, roca wear, fubu, and phat farm. and not only that you can do all the hot street moves not allowed in the nba and not included in the nba games. plus,After selecting your team and players, etc., you get to go to the Strip Mall where you can buy clothing. Keep pressing Left and you will move to a new screen. It will open an area with Hair Cuts, Pawn Shops where you can buy ice and stuff, and there is even a tatoo shop!!..plus you can play as some special rap artists such as , xzibit, silkk the shocker, lil' romeo, master p, Dj muggz and the guys from cypress hill, and there is a bonus character that was in the nba.....denis rodman.......overall i would give this game a 9-out of 10 because of the graphics....but the good things are like the and 1 team and the real rap artists.

Street Hoops is an awesome game, better than NBA Street in my opinion. The only better thing that NBA Sreet has over Street Hoops is that it has NBA players and the graphics are slighly better. Street Hoops is great because you can play with the And 1 ballers such as Hot Sauce, Half Man Half Amazing, and so on, while NBA Street has those dorky, corny street legends that ....
Also, Street Hoops seems to be more competitve with a die or go home attitude, while NBA Street is more a have fun attitude. Street Hoops also has great hip hop artists, such as DMX with Who We Be, Ludacris with Rollout, and Method Man and Redman with Da Rockwilder while NBA Street has wannabe hip hop songs. So, in conclusion I feel Street Hoops is abetter game than NBA Street, even though NBA Street is a great game.

This game, Street Hoops was tight. I love the fact that you can bet on all of your games so you can win money to buy the hidden players and the different courts you can unlock. The only reason why I didn't give this game a perfect 5 out of 5 was because of the graphics, but other than that this game to me was amazing and I cannot stop playing, it is addictive. I recommend you buy or rent this game before Street Volume 2 comes out because then this game won't be worth having because NBA Steet is much better than this but I still love Street hoops.
