1 out of 5 stars Kind of pointless when you can get the advanced AV pack   August 8, 2007

When I first got my xbox I picked up the advanced AV pack immediately to get the Dolby 5.1 experience, I must say, that was great! I picked this up after getting an HDTV, but I was extremely disappointed. The xbox supports a widescreen format with the traditional hookups so that didn't change a thing, and the graphics on xbox are so old school already that you're not going to notice the details like blades of grass, facial hair, etc. that you notice with regular HDTV signals. On top of that, only half of the games I own even have HDTV capabilities, and of those, 95% (including Halo 2) have a max resolution of 480P, which can be sent through a regular s-video signal.

In conclusion, I would say that the 5.1 surround sound feature is great, but if you want to play games in HD, get a PS3, wii, or 360. If you still have an xbox, you are probably trying to save money, so get the advanced AV pack for the 5.1 sound and s-video output.

5 out of 5 stars Great Product!   March 17, 2007

Just ordered this product from the marketplace. The only place I could find it! What can I say other than wow! The xbox graphics are much sharper and the sound is excellent now. Don't hesitate to buy the original HD AV pack if you can find it!

5 out of 5 stars Love it! What a difference!   July 9, 2006

Just picked this up at Gamestop for $14.99. It made a difference! Brighter colors.. Crystal clear display. Very nice.

The sound was good, but when I hooked up an optical audio cable.. WOW! Surround surround surround.

Well worth it. Get it now!

5 out of 5 stars Great little connector   June 27, 2006

It's nearly impossible to find these anywhere anymore, and several online sources (including eBay) seem to have knock-offs. But, I found a used one (genuine Microsoft version) at a local Gamestop for only $10. I already had a set of Component A/V cables at home so I didn't need to buy those too. Easy hook up and the picture and sound is outstanding on my 32" Philips LCD HDTV. On xbox.com, you can find support pages on how to connect the high-def A/V cables and how to change the settings on your Xbox to take advantage of its HD capabilities. It's a shame MS stopped making these...Guess they expect everyone to upgrade to a new 360, but that's not in my plans for several years. If you can find one, snatch it up!
