great for any zork fan. it includes zork I, zork II the wizard of frobozz, zork III the dungeon master, beyond zork, zork zero, return to zork (all on 1 disc)& zork nemesis (3 disc long) in 1 package. there is another game on the anthology disc also I believe (though I have never played it, it has nothing to do with zork). zork I thru zork zero are text games and thats why I only gave 4 stars for "fun" as seeing it is better than just reading about it. return to zork & nemesis are accual "point & click" games. if you are looking for a shot them, kill them, war type RPG, then this is not for you. but if you like puzzle/problem solving mystery RPG's, this is perfect. a lot of the puzzle's (at least for me) were difficult & they are not games you will finish in a week (unless you cheat thru the whole game by buying the answer book without seeing if you can do it on our own first). the zork games are about "the great underground empire" and are set at different times in their history.
zork I thru zork III is a type of treasure hunt. the player collects 20 treasures & puts them in the (famous to any zork fan) white house and ends in the player becoming the dungeon master (the ruling wizard).
in beyong zork the player has to get all the magic in zork inside a coconut thing before its banished from the empire.
and then comes zork zero, a prequel to zork 1. basicly explains why everything seemed so not good in zork I thru III.
now on the text games (above) if I am off on some info or got them confused, sorry, its been years since I have played them but return to zork & zork numesis I still play to this day!
return to zork: true RPG video game! the player is investigating what happened to a specific town (it is disappearing), has to learn how to play a board game from the land of zork, has inventory, take pic, have voice recorder, map. the game is great in my opinion. the graphics are not that good, but get over that (it was made in the early 1990s), the game play more than makes up for it. some puzzles are easy, others were very hard for me! I am not positive but I believe this game takes place later in zork history
finally, zork nemesis, another true RPG! graphics much better though since it was made for windows. this game is not a typical zork game. you are still investigating a place, but you are not going from town to town talking to different people. it is a lot darker of a story line. it has a lot to do with alchemy & mysticism & seeing someone alive is very rare. I had to buy a cheat book for this game! there was no way around it for me! some puzzles were easy, some I had to work on a while & some puzzles were just way over my head (of course then the book shows you where the game had already given you the answer to the puzzle you are trying to solve!)
I tried not to ruin anything in the game if someone has never played it before so I hope I didnt give to much info. one hint on the games: same often! there are other zork games out there (zork grand inquisitor-point & click RPG & zork the undiscovered underground-text game) also, but they are becoming harder & harder to come by
