EXCELLENT GAME! May 9, 2008 This game is pretty fun but when it comes down to it the singleplayer has low choices, The multiplayer however is much more fun. Online sopport is bad.
Amazing game! April 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is one of the best First Person Shooters my friends and I have ever played. It's basically 100% multiplayer, so you need to be online to play, but it's graphics are beautiful, the ideas are dynamic and yet coherent, and there's something for every action/war fan out there! The only reason I don't give this game a HUGE five-stars (choosing four stars for the overall rating instead), is because it is made by EA Games, the buggiest, most flawed-programming, worst-customer-service company ever. Their corporate size is so massive, they know that they don't need to work really hard to please individual customers (and by individual, I mean thousands of them in huge, angry masses). Battlefield 2142, like many EA Games, sometimes disagrees with computer setups or internet connections. The good news is, if it works for your setup, then it probably always will. Good luck- aside from EA's uniquely slipshod programming, the game's just absolutely fantastic.
Best Battlefield of the Series April 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Battlefield 2142 is a superior product to Battlefield 2 in every way. Less crashes, better graphic support, no more JOIN NOW button on the main screen, and so on. However, there are still some crashes and really annoying glitches that never seem to get addressed, but for that you can blame EA. Electronic Arts is bad news if you ask me, but I'm not reviewing them...
The online experience is fun, which is the big deal. It was so fun I bought a copy for my room mate because he was too cheap to buy 2142 since he rationalized that there was no need as he owned BF2. Wrong.
Since purchasing a second copy of 2142, we have not even touched our BF2 disks. There are tons of unlocks and achievements, and bunches of alternative ways to score points without having to kill a thousand people. I love this game. Infact, I think I'll play it right now...
Fun & Addictive March 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Battlefield 2142 is by far the most addictive first person shooter I've ever played, and has a few things that make it unique. Most FPS games you play for awhile and have a great time, but at the end of the day accomplish nothing. However, BF2142 adds a lot of addictive elements that normally only RPG's and MMORPG's have. You have to earn Carrier Points (Experience Points) to earn military ranks, which in turn allows you to unlock new and better gear, that gives you an edge on the battlefield, or to fit your fighting style. There is also a separate ranking system that keeps track of every stat you can think of such as overall kills, deaths, accuracy, rounds fired, and hundreds of other statistics. You can then compare these stats with any other player, and see your rank with any specific weapon or vehicle, and try to be on top of the list. And i'm not talking just by round, but cumulative throughout your soldiers career. In my opinion this is the best feature of the game. Pros. Global Rank System Comprehensive Stats 16 Awesome Vehicles Large selection of weapons Excellent communications/squad system that encourages teamwork through chain of command. Very intense game play Good graphics, just a little out dated. Cons. Very Glitchy Many little imperfections that drive you crazy. Sometimes laggy game play in certain game modes and situations.
There are many annoyances in BF2142, but they are merely that, just little nuisances, and are by far outweighed by the many perks. In spite of these little imperfections this game is so intense and fun it's well worth playing and I highly recommend it.
Amazing Game (don't listen to the haters)- its like you're in the middle of a hi-tech war February 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really don't understand the hate towards this game, this game is great. Let me put it this way, did you watch the movie 'Transformers' by Micheal Bay? Remember one of the first scenes where that Deceptacon (disguised as a US military helicopter) was totally destroying the military installation? This game sometimes feels like that because this game has nice powerful Mechs for you to play with and wreck havoc with.
I could go on and on about this game but I don't really have the time to write a detailed review.
But this game is amazing, especially if you have a computer that is up to snuff. I run it on high at 1280 x 800 (have edit the shortcut) with a 1.66ghz core 2 duo (minimum specs say '1.8ghz' but that's really only if you have a older, slower Pentium-4; the newer chip designs of Pentium-m or Core 2 Duo you should be able to run it fine with 1.6ghz or more), 2gb of ram (highly, highly recommended to run with 2gb's of ram, this game uses a lot of ram) and a Geforce 8600m GT (the most important component; make sure you have a good video card, integrated graphics are NOT going to cut it).
