Atari does it right againMay 31, 2007 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This was and is a superb game machine. It came out in 1989 and had a LCD screen with resolution on a portable device that was not matched until the GameBoy Color came out in the late 90's, however GB Color didn't have as good of sound as the Lynx.
This was the first handheld game console to include a full color LCD screen and a backlit screen, it was originally developed by another company and called the Handy, later Atari released it as the Atari Lynx. Atari later redesigned this and released it as the Lynx II. It uses Cartriges and uses AA batteries (6) for portable power. You can also purchase an external battery pack that uses C cell batteries for up to 20 hours of gameplay.
All in all, this was a really cool portable that I still play from time to time. There were not alot of games for this handheld, but some of the games were very good. I would recommend Electrocop for a great shooter.
