 Great destruction, but needs better production. August 3, 2008
The story and voice acting are lame, but the amount of destruction is fun. Why can't I pick up a military HUMMVEE but I can throw a tractor trailer or a bus hundreds of yards? And since when can the Hulk be hurt be small arms fire? The graphics are better than average, making the free range exploring enjoyable. I really wish MARVEL would raise their standards a little higher before they let a game get released. In all this Hulk game is no where near as good as the last one released but it is fun to play. Recommend renting or buying used.

The Incredible Hulk is a action packed game. Jumping in New
York City and breaking buildings is fun! The story line is ok but it
isn't easy on some parts of the levels. Jumping around is fun but when
you jump on top of a building and if you are not doing a mission the
army would come after you and try to kill you but if you get in a
subway they stop. Some missions bring back old memories for some people
who know hulk for a long time but for kids it's just new people to
destroy as the hulk. The secret characters are ok but they just do the
same things you do as the hulk except different people. It's fun to
jump around the city and destroy stuff, but if you beat the game and
every mini game it gets boring after a while and then you get sick of
the game. All in all the Incredible Hulk is a good game to get on Xbox
360 or ps3 but if you get it on anything else it's pretty bad. But if
you wanted to get a new Marvel Comics game get the Incredible Hulk.

I would rate this game good based on my experience so far. For comparison, I rate the previous Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, Great.
Incredible Hulk uses many elements from Ultimate Destruction, but fails to deliver U.D.'s level of fun game play, so far. Also, of course, in my opinion. So, consider my remarks as an initial impression, as I haven't unlocked but maybe 30% of Hulk's powers, at this point.
I have played approx. 7.5-8 hrs in 3 sessions, much of it in free-play mode, I have completed maybe 10 story missions. The combat system feels dumbed down so far, and "super moves" are selected from the d-pad and then you just push 2 buttons simultaneously to use. They require a number of rage bars be present to activate. You build up Rage bars by beating down enemies. There are also 100 Fury tanks and 100 gamma tanks scattered about the city roof tops. They are your rage and health upgrades. You get upgraded at 10-30-60-100 tanks. AS of now, I only have Hulk at the 30 tank upgrade level for both. So again, take that into consideration when evaluating my comments on game play experience. Because there is more Hulk can do than what I have managed thus far.
One of the gripes I have is: Instead of being able to earn points to purchase moves of your choice, moves are rewards. Which also makes it feel as if the game has been dumbed down IMO. I guess the pro would be that the game will be more accessible/lower the learning curve?
About the graphics: The cut-scene graphics are very sub-par, and in-game graphics remind me of Superman Returns. Except for the character models, particularly Hulk and all the extra skins I've unlocked so far. Maestro looks amazing, Incredible Hulk, Red Hulk, Gray Hulk, Joe Fix-it, all look very cool too. Hulk Buster Iron man, Classic Hulk, among others, are also unlockable "Secret Characters". I have experienced serious frame rate slow downs and choppiness at times. I don't know if a update will correct this behavior or not, but if it can, then the sooner it is released, the better.
The extra skins bring up another gripe: Unlike previous Hulk games, none of the extra characters talk so far, which means no comedic Mr. Fix-it lines. It is just the same Hulk grunting, roaring, ect.
The physics are improved over U.D. and the sounds, noises, explosions, ect. are excellent in 5.1 surround.
Warning: Spoiler ahead! The destructible environment is definitely a real bright spot, where it easily outshines U.D. You can raze the whole city! There are also "landmark" coins for major New York landmarks, including some from the Marvel universe, among them, the Baxter building and Stark Industries. Smash the building until it falls, and the coin is in the rubble waiting to be retrieved. It also makes a distinct noise, like a funky radar pinging maybe?
To conclude: My game play experience so far, with Incredible Hulk, is definitely a mixed bag. I like all the elements borrowed from U.D., but wish they had borrowed even more. I enjoyed being able to pick which upgrades from the list I'd unlocked so far, and the different personality that went along with using Mr. Fix-it. I also liked how deep the combat system was, and this one is just too basic for my taste so far. Games like Hulk:U.D. God of War, and Conan have made me expect more in that area, I suppose. I miss the gorilla balloon too, LOL!
Hopefully, when I get more moves unlocked, and power Hulk up more, the fun factor will pick up too.

A few years ago, a little game called Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was released, and was a surprisingly great take on the Marvel character with free-roaming and destructive environments, plus the overall feeling gameplay-wise that you really were the Hulk. This new movie tie-in Incredible Hulk game from Sega seems to want to follow in the same footsteps, but alas, it is a disappointing, and quite frankly boring, next-gen smash-a-thon. Smashing up a pretty looking New York City is as fun as one would hope, and is by far the best aspect of the game to be sure. After that though, things begin to go downhill in terms of gameplay and overall presentation. Once you get bored with just causing destruction, the gameplay elements at their core just aren't that varied, and the boss fights are underwhelming as well. Graphically, the game looks halfway decent, but there are noticeable graphical glitches and occasional bugs that hamper the experience. Oddly enough as well, just like with the Iron Man game that was recently released, the game's cut-scenes are just plain bad. The good points of the game once again involve laying waste to the environment, and film star Edward Norton lends his voice as Bruce Banner as well. Considering how enjoyable Ultimate Destruction was and still is, it's disappointing how Incredible Hulk ends up faring. It's worth a look for Hulk fans, but in the end, you're better off sticking with an old copy of Ultimate Destruction.

Worst. Movie. Game. Ever.
This game had tons going for it. But, it was ultimately rushed and it shows.
First and foremost, be warned that there are 2 different versions of this game available for the Xbox 360. There is the standard version available everywhere and there is the Gamestop version with the exclusive Red Hulk.
Not many people know about this and are duped into thinking they can play as the Red Hulk on any version. Not so. Beware.
Anyway, this game is a shameless ripoff of the game called Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction which came out for the PS2, Gamecube and Xbox about 3 years ago.
Sega allowed their developer to shamelessly copy most of Ultimate Destruction and let them cut out quality in the process. Where Ultimate Destruction had excellent controls, graphics, and story, The Incredible Hulk on the 360 fails. Sure the 360 Hulk has great graphics but the controls are very hit and miss. And objects in the game are very glitchy.
Oh, and the game freezes at random. I thought it was just my 360 acting up...until I read other people had the same problem. I had the game lock up 5 times in 2 days. This is unacceptable by any standard. Maybe Sega is hoping to fix their shoddy game with a downloadable patch? If so, this goes to show they knew what they were doing by cutting corners.
A little known fact is that Sega rushed this game to beat Metal Gear Solid 4 to the shelves- and it shows.
If you want a great, near-perfect Hulk game with better controls, more moves and abilities, go buy the Hulk Ultimate Destruction as it is compatible with the Xbox 360.
If you want to waste $60.00, then buy this game without hesitating. Just know that you should've rented this first if you don't believe me.
In summary, shame on SEGA for putting out a title like this when money is getting tighter for everyone who just want to play a game that should be fun and not frustrating.
