The Best Game Ever September 27, 2008 Yeah, lots of new games have surfaced since DX, including games with much better graphics, but no game will ever top this one. Just my opinion, of course, but I've been a Deus Ex fan for years and have played it thousands of times. I never get tired of it because there are so many different ways to play it.
For other DX fans, try a no-kill game. See if you can get through the game using only the prod and mini crossbow. Of course you'll probably have to kill Anna and Gunther, but for everyone else you have to take them down humanely. It's fun!
All the hype June 30, 2008 I finally understand what all the hype around this game is. I had never heard of "Deus Ex" until recently. I read about it, saw the raving reviews with few dissenting opinions. Ok, for such short money, I gave it a try. I'm glad I did. It's a good 1st person shooter game but goes well beyond that. It's not a matter of getting a big gun, running full ahead, and firing away. There's good story development, lots of secrets, and the game is very well paced.
Best Game I ever got March 7, 2008 I received this game free when I bought my first computer and I have bought 2 time more since because I wear out the disks. This game has so many interesting elements and twists that I worth replay over and over. With the news of the production of the third game in the series I highly recommend that you buy this game to just get in to the series or just to refresh you memory before the new game is released
Deus Ex - Game of the Year Edition September 20, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have to say that I really missed this game. When my previous hard drive crashed, I lost that version. I had to get it after I saw this version and the more than reasonable price. Anyone who likes FPSs with a little something extra will enjoy this game. It truly is one of the best games of its kind. If you are looking for a game that combines Shooters with features normally associated with RPGs, then I suggest giving this one a shot. You won't be disappointed.
Old but good January 10, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
All right, I have one gripe which I would still have had when this game was new: the voice acting is mediocre. That's the only significant bad mark I can give.
The gameplay is definitely story-based, but there are multiple paths through the game and multiple endings. If you're expecting an ID-esque shooter, I suspect you'll be disappointed; if you play this game right, you'll avoid shooting and killing nearly as much as the average person does in real life.
Characters develop throughout the game, the settings change from time to time, and I doubt that anyone will ever figure everything out the first time around. You have to decide a lot of things in this game, including what skills and "biomods" (things like cybernetic strength enhancement) to build up with the limited amount of upgrade points afforded you throughout the game. If you're an avid gamer, play it on the hardest level for a serious challenge.
Deus Ex may only have Unreal-era graphics, sound and music, but if it were made over again with all the newest bells and whistles today, its strengths would still be the intriguing(and somewhat prophetic)story it tells and the extensive playability it offers.
