5 out of 5 stars Let the rampage begin!   September 8, 2003

I am a grown woman with teenage sons and I absolutely LOVE this series of games since I discovered it in 97 or so. Sadly, it has "passed it's prime" by not being able to be played on Windows 2000 or up.

What a shame, too, since the storyline is excellent and where else could I get the chance to shoot cheerleaders!

Interplay, shame on you for not updating this fantastic first-person shoot em up to be compatible with more current systems! For those who have an old PC that want to dedicate it to old games only, this is the game to add to your collection.

You may say Redneck Rampage [stinks] but you have to understand this game was not made in 2002! When I bought my first computer in 95 I got Readneck Rampage with my computer. This is not for those ultimate realism freaks at all. This game is more a classic humoristic shooter. This game was top of the line when it first came out and will still be a great game for those who still admire games like duke nukem.

3 out of 5 stars You have to be kidding   February 13, 2000

"Xatrix is kidding," was my first thought when I ripped open the box an popped the CD into my system. This game is based on the old, but classic, "Build" engine that the venerable Duke Nukem 3D games were based on. But that wasn't my first complaint. It was when I started my game and discovered no music from the CD. The help file explains that there is an incompitability with Win9x and the CD sound. So I spent the next 1 1/2 hours remembering how to navigate DOS and configuring the drivers for DOS support. And now my second complaint. Why use the Build engine! It's hard on the eyes to play crystal clear games like Half-Life and Unreal only to turn around and play Redneck Rampage. Why didn't Xatrix get a license for at least the Quake engine?

I do have to say that this game has a few good qualities. Pop the CD into a regular player and listen carefully to the music. I don't like country music but the music on these CD's are something else :^D Also, install the Cuss Pack and you'll fall out of your chair laughing. And the choice of weapons is . . um very intersting :^) Too bad the funny-factor lasts only a few days. If this game was released much earlier or used a different engine then it might have found a good home on my hard drive. As it stands, it seems to have achieved "Deer Hunter" status. Every one has a copy of it on their CD rack or on their hard drive but I've never seen anyone actually play it.

I say, buy this only if you want something to laugh at during parties, if your system requirements don't meet the more recent games, or if your family tree is just a couple of straight lines. Otherwise leave this game in the bargain bins.
