Remote works great. October 3, 2008 Too bad you have to purchase a Blu-Tooth remote to be able to use your Play Station Blu-Ray player but it works great. You can use the game controller to do the same thing but the remote is more user friendly.
Could be much better September 29, 2008 There are serious problems with this remote:
* Keys are placed in non intuitive locations; even the most important ones (play, stop, pause) are located in a completely illogical order (not to mention back/forward chapter and fast/slow scan). As a result, it is nearly impossible to use the remote in the dark, unless you memorize the position of several buttons. Consider that I also often use the "languages", the "subtitles" and the "display" buttons. I don't understand how Sony can have achieved to engineer something like this, with several good examples of remotes on the market (even by Sony itself!) they could have easily copied.
* The batteries last very short. My first batteries lasted just 4-5 months. The batteries on my TV IR remotes, always by Sony, normally last 3-4 years or more.
That said, it is much better to control the blu ray discs with this toy than with the Sixaxis.
Just my 2 cents September 29, 2008 There isn't a lot I can add to what others have said in either the pro or con line. But despite it being a yet another remote on my coffee table, I have come to consider it my favorite. I long for the day when all remotes become bluetooth devices and the flawless, no line of sight needed, I'm in another room and it still works -performance that I enjoy with this remote extends to everything else. I'm not sure I get other people's complaints about the number of buttons - I've owned a few DVD players before and the number is pretty much the same as any other. Certainly is better than navigating a DVD/Blu-Ray movie with the PS3 controller! This wasn't my first purchase for a movie/remote solution on my PS3, but I'm very glad it is my last.
A Must Have! September 27, 2008 I just purchased an HDTV a month ago and thought this would be a great way to watch Blu-Ray movies rather than buy a separate player. Using this remote to watch DVDs is much easier than using one of the game controlers. Setup is very simple and it's not expensive at all, definitely worth the money.
Excellent for more than just movies September 23, 2008 Bought my PS3 to watch movies, before games. Not many kid-friendly games (yet) and I don't like playing FPS with my 6yo watching over my shoulder.
For the spousal (in-law/baby-sitter) factor, this remote is excellent. It allows control of the PS3 to function exactly like our older DVD player. No having to figure out if triangle, circle or X stops, plays or pauses the movie.
Bluetooth functionality is a perk. I can play streaming music from the TV, via the PS3, and use the BT remote to pause and resume playback without sitting in front of the TV.
