Not worth the money September 22, 2008 I read the prior reviews and decided to order the frontman guitar instead of the traditional rock band guitar because I thought I would eventually buy guitar hero as well as rock band. However, this guitar is much worse than the rock band guitar. I didn't have a problem linking it to my PS3 as many people had indicated but have several complaints. First of all, in order to get the guitar to recognize overdrive, you have to raise the guitar at least 5-10 times before it recognizes that you have lifted it. Secondly the fret buttons are so tiny, it's almost impossible to play at the same level that you play using the rock band guitars. The only redeeming quality it has is the fact that the strum bar is tighter and clicks like the guitar hero guitars. I recommend spending more money and avoiding this guitar, you're better off getting a rock band guitar and a guitar hero guitar.
Didn't work September 1, 2008 I was not able to get the foot peddle and guitar to sync. So this was of no use. I sent it back for a new one and have not received it yet. Maybe I will have better luck with the second one.
Best guitar for GH3 August 25, 2008 This past weekend I recently purchased this guitar in place of my GH3 Les Paul. Prior to owning a PS3 I owned an Xbox 360 along with GH3. The Gibson Les Paul wireless controller for the Xbox 360 worked flawlessly so I expected the PS3 version to respond in the same fashion. Not exactly, songs I knew I could 5 star on expert diffuctly would result in 3 star efforts. Frustrated, I turned to the internet to see if anyone else shared my dilema. Low and behold, most PS3 GH3 owners shared my plight. I followed a series of links to one that suggested this Nyko Frontman Guitar. So I said screw it and gave it a shot. To my delight this guitar was 100% accurate. No more frustrating whammy bar cord cancellation. No inadvertent note fumbles and no more innaccurate hammer-on strings. This guitar has restored my pleasure in playing Guitar Hero. I highly recommend this product to any other gamer who has shared my many frustrations.
Good guitar for PS3 August 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had my Frontman guitar for a couple weeks now. So far I am very happy with my purchase. One thing worth mentioning is that they do not necessarily send the color shown in the picture. (Black with white pick guard is shown in pic, they sent me the white version). This doesn't bother me at all, but it could with some picky people so I thought I would mention it.
The guitar works great with both GH3 and RB on PS3. I have spent hours playing both games with the Frontman and have really had no problems, aside one loss of connection while playing GH3. Also, don't bother trying to use the junk batteries that come with the guitar, put some new name-brand ones in there. The ones they sent me were DOA. It is very responsive and seems to be built solid. I don't care for the huge USB reciever pedal thing that it uses but I don't mind if that is what is necessary for it to play both games. I prefer my Frontman over either of the guitars that came with RB (Strat) and GH3 (Les Paul). I do plan on getting either Rock Band 2 or GHWT when they come out and I do hope this guitar is compatible with them.
I recommend this guitar, it is worth the $50.
this one broken, too (UPDATED: WORKS, the instructions are wrong) August 5, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Same as some other reviewers here: Could NEVER get it to sync. Sending it back; obviously there are a bunch of bad ones here that don't make me feel good about Nyko :(
UPDATED: So, I got it to work, and it works great. How? Well, turns out the instruction manual with it is useless. While it clearly states to get both components into the 'fast blinking' stage, that does NOT connect the devices. Once both are blinking fast, THEN hit the button one more time on the guitar. They will not connect (and stay connected). No mention of that in the manual mind you. I searched the web, and followed a many posts there).
