4 out of 5 stars Fun social game, controllers graphics need work...   October 10, 2008
This is a fun game to play with friends.

Cons:
The graphics are not very good, it limited to 720p
There is excessive animation between questions. I've seen the animation and want to play the game and find that your waiting for the next question allot. there should be a option to turn animation off.
The buzzers are not bluetooth, supper annoying you have to use a USB dongle to pair the controllers, they are difficult to pair and sometime lose connection during game play...
The game modes are limited there should be more game modes like 30 and they should be random so you don't play the same one each time. They currently have 6 points builder, bomb juggler, point stealer, pie fight, place your bet and the final round. If there were more modes you could also play longer rounds. Personally I hate bomb juggler and pie fight because they remove game show aspect from the game. it becomes can you sit there with the bomb and then pass it right before it explodes and screw the net person, its really cheep and lame...

All in all I enjoy playing with friends and it great to engage friends who don't normally play video games.

4 out of 5 stars Great fun for trivia fans.   October 10, 2008
My wife and I enjoy trivia and often go to bars for trivia nights. So once we found out a trivia game was coming out on PS3, we knew we had to buy it. After a week of playing it, I can say that Buzz is a very fun game and is a great option for home entertainment.

A few comments:
- I really like that you can create and download free quizzes off their website. I've already created a couple of quizzes and it's very easy.
- The online version does contain glitches. We were kicked out once, even though our network connection is very strong. Also, we've only played 5 online matches and have already received repeat questions. That is pretty annoying.
- I wish you could create your own characters, but the ones built-in are somewhat entertaining.
- The sound quality is very good in a 5.1 surround system.
- There are different games within the online version and the home version. For example, online has "All That Apply", where you can choose multiple answers for one question. Home version does not offer this. And the home version includes games that the online version does not. I'm not really sure why.
- Game is not that fun with just 2 people. You really need 3 or 4 to make it a blast.
- The wireless buzzers are actually pretty large and of good quality.
- Overall, I would say the questions tend to be on the easy side (especially for those that play bar trivia). I wish they were a little more challenging, especially since it's all multiple choice. For example, there is a Final Jeopardy style game where you can wager a certain amount after viewing the category. Everyone tends to wager the highest amount possible since the questions are easy.

In this economy, it's important to stretch your entertainment dollar. This game will provide many hours of fun times at a good price.

5 out of 5 stars Great way to get the family together!!   October 10, 2008
Super fun game for quality family time! Loads of laughs are promised playing this game. Good mix of easy and hard questions to challenge everyone. Make sure you have enough AA batteries around! Each Buzz controller requires two.

5 out of 5 stars Great entertainment value   October 8, 2008
I just got this game a couple of days ago. It includes 4 wireless controllers which are really simple to use and make the game a lot more fun. Note that the controllers are not bluetooth but you need to plug a receiver in one of the usb ports of the PS3. As for the game itself, it includes online mode and play with friends mode. There are plenty of questions to keep you entertained. The characters you select are fun to watch at first but after a while you notice they do the same thing all the time. Yesterday (see review date), the PS3 notified me there was an update for the game and if I am not wrong, I now have more characters than the ones that came from the original game.
Although the game can be played by yourself or two people, it is much more fun when you have at least 3.

4 out of 5 stars Great Party Game   October 2, 2008

Pros: Great variety of questions, nice level of difficulty in questions, wireless buzzers work great, game interface is fun & easy to use.

Cons: Character models are a little generic, lack of variety in in-game question modes.

This is my first experience with the Buzz! game series, and so far it's been very enjoyable. My wife and I invited over another couple, and we played multiple games of 4 player head-to-head matches. The questions are just about the right diffuculty, with some being easy, while others were stumpers. With 4 buzzers going, it's nice that they were all wireless, although you'll have to make sure you buy a bunch of AA batteries to power all of them. We also jumped online to check out some of the top-rated user-created quizzes. These are shorter than the regular game mode (8 questions each), but it is a nice change of pace if you don't want to play the full game.
A few nitpicks; I would've liked to make my own custom character, which is a standard feature in many other games. As it is, you get to choose from about a dozen characters, pick an outfit, and that's it. Also, the game show follows the same format each time, meaning the it has the same series of sections as the game progresses (pie fight, fastest finger, etc)...we felt it could have mixed in a few other modes so that the experience is slightly different each time, and you wouldn't know which mode to expect as the game progresses.
But these are minor complaints, and overall this game was a lot of fun for a few 30-year-olds. grab a few beers, order a pizza, and spend a night inside throwing pies at your friends and family.
