It's OK December 18, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Arcsoft Panorama Maker 4 is OK. If you have a simple picture series, it will work OK. However, if you start clustering shots with slightly odd angles, it produces a distorted image and not all of the edges align. The software doesn't save the panorama in layers, so you can't hand correct misalignments later. It's a pretty simple program, fun to play, but not a cure-all.

While I enjoyed the free-trial version of this product, having inserted the software disc into the computer quickly became a nightmare. I was not given a license number to even allow me to go beyond a set-up screen. I also could not register the product and received no helpful information from ArcSoft, or whoever designed this software. With all the online manuals on their site for each product, one did not exist for Panorama Maker 4. I purchased and chose to have the actual software mailed instead of downloading, since the free-trial version refused to work the first time I attempted to use it. Definitely do not buy any ArcSoft products.
Suprising results March 18, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I recently bought a 1GB Fujifilm XD card and Panorama Maker 4 was included as a freebie. I was sceptical at first but i just followed the instructions and used a tripod (you must use a tripod) and the software stitches the photos together pretty much automatically. If you click on my name above you can see some examples on my homepage. I highly recommend this software to people wishing to capture the "feel" of a place...sometimes one photo just isnt enough.
PS: Horizontal, vertical and 360 degree panoramas are all possible with this software however ive only used 360 degree and horizonal ones so far. They turned out great!
Great for virtual tours January 12, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We use this to seam together pictures for use in real estate. It works great, is easy to use and worth every dime.
beware of ArcSoft products December 5, 2006 6 out of 12 found this review helpful
CAUTION, be forewarned by my experiences: the three ArcSoft products I own have all been exercises in frustration, wasted time and effort, and failure to function.
ArcSoft sells BUGGY software. For example, PhotoBase 4.5 & Photo Impression 5 both fail to install on an HP PC running Windows XP Home Edition. Panorama Maker 3 installs and opens but gives error messages when trying to work with albums and files.
ArcSoft DOES NOT SUPPORT their products. They do not answer emails or phone calls. Their internet knowledge base is very spotty and incomplete. When downloads are available, ArcSoft instructs customers to have no confidence in them: "Program patches/updates ... may or may not work, and may actually cause your program(s) to function improperly."
ArcSoft intentionally designs their software to be USER-UNFRIENDLY. For example, there is no help feature and no display of version number in Panorama Maker 3. If users go online to the ArcSoft knowledge base and search, they will find a listing of 5 steps to go through to discover a version number. The manual and knowledge base have no index and no list of errors or ways to troubleshoot them.
