4 out of 5 stars Great Game   August 17, 2008
This game was not bad at all. The graphics are about the same or a little better than Titan Quest. The gameplay is very similar too. I played a Mage/Priest and once I got some good items and skills it wasn't too hard to stay alive. I like the little fairy light, because she will cry out when your about to die which clues you to heal or use a potion. She is good for a laugh too while you play as well as your light when in the dungeons.

The storyline is not bad and the actors are ok, but not the best. The weapons have differnt attacks and the spell effects are good. The visuals are really nice and there are some rather large creatures and bosses in the game.

I dont regret buying this game new because I enjoyed playing it. I did not have any problems running it but I didnot install the directx from the CD or the PhysX software. I had both already and I heard they caused some people problems. Besides if you do need them you can download them from the internet.

1 out of 5 stars A buggy mess   August 12, 2008

This game is broken. Seriously. It is plagued with numerous graphical problems, bugs, performance issues, and more. Don't waste your money.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointed!!   August 10, 2008

I hope it was just a bad copy, but after I loaded the game the install wizard stated it needed to restart the computer. After shutting down, my computer comes up in safe mode telling me that recent software may have damaged files on my computer, so windows went into repair mode. After close to an hour my computer restarts. Computer seems to be fine now, it could be just one bad copy, but for me it was a bad experience. I suggest waiting on more reviews before buying this game. I hope there are other reviews with a good report.

4 out of 5 stars THE HAND OF GOD OR DIABLO?   August 3, 2008

LEGEND: HAND OF GOD is the newest addition to the hack-&-slash cRPG genre and it is a very good addition at that! The isometric viewpoint (with reorienting the camera and zooming options) works well and the camera handling is nothing to complain about.

The graphics are not groundbreaking but they are a couple of notches above TITAN QUEST (be sure to activate the water and shadow effects). The grass and trees feel real and they will shake by either the wind or your passing by but there is no real interaction with the environment in any way. Also, some stuttering was apparent when transitioning between areas or just before leveling up. Nothing major but I do hope that the developers address it in their first patch.

I particularly enjoyed the fighting and finishing-off moves the character has in his repertoire. Although they appear randomly without depending on any special key combos, these special animated moves spice up the gaming experience (and, I for one, do not miss key combos on a PC game - leave them to console jockeys: they have the handheld controllers that make them easy).
Also adding to how realistic the game appears is the care that was taken to have the character fight at the height of his opponents: fight a troll and he will be jumping to deal his sword thrusts; fight a timberwolf and he will be sweeping low.

What did get on my nerves was the accompanying...Tinkerbell, serving as both pointer and unsolicited advice-dispensing fairy. For her size she surely has a big mouth! Her presence does offer some funny moments though, and comic relief is welcome in an otherwise grim cRPG.

As with most cRPGs, one can choose the path of warrior, magician, woodsman and so on. I only played the warrior so far and the development of the character's abilities is in good balance with the enemies he encounters. Nothing too easy or too hard before its time (the memory of the murderous wolves encountered early on in BALDUR's GATE had me giving them a wide berth at first here as well; however, there was no need). Oh, and no, you will not be fighting the customary rats at first!

All in all, a very enjoyable action cRPG. So, to answer the title question: BOTH! It will sustain us until Christmas and the 3rd coming...

RECOMMENDED.
