3 out of 5 stars Uplink   May 13, 2007
Over all a decent game. It lacks replay value once your top hacker. Game play becomes repetitive at times.

5 out of 5 stars Fun, interesting, and somewhat technical.   April 18, 2007
This game, while dated is still an excellent choice. For anyone that ever has wanted to be an "elite hacker" or just thought it was cool, you should try it. The game is very easy to learn, there is a short tutorial and then it starts you on the missions.
The game shows you some things that are correct with hacking, but the game does take place in the future so there are fictional things as well. In order to progress you need to upgrade your utility programs as well as your computer system.
Every time I would get caught hacking, it would make me want to go back and try again. Its simple and addictive. Definately a worthwhile purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Awesome!   August 3, 2006

Uplink is one of the best games since the 80s! It may not have state of the art graphics, but perhaps simpler is better. The text adventures of the 80s had one advantage over 99% of any graphic games today, and that is you could use your imagination while playing. Don't get my wrong I love playing state of the art graphics games, but they get boring doing the same thing over and over. Why do you think they are developed to play for 36 hour game play? But games where you use your imagination can be enjoyable long after you toss out most of the games today. I put Uplink in the same fun catgory as Master of Orion (orignal version), which I enjoyed for an entire year the first year it came out, and never really mastered it. With the knowledge game developers have now, it's time to return to the roots of PC games and create games that challenge our minds. I highly recommend Uplink for players who want a challenge.

5 out of 5 stars Never Thought A Hacking Game Would Be That Good!   May 9, 2005

This hacker simulation game is simply better than my imagination. You are first hired to do hacking tasks, taken by fairly good tutorial, and then moving on to the real world. you have to go through all kind of password cracking, firewall bypassing, Bouncing Connections, it even has its command line feature. You start gradually and have all the support material included as part of the game itself.

You really get the feeling you are in a hacking mode from the first look at the game cover. Even entering the serial number has never been so much fun where you have to go through a matrix of scrambeled numbers. Sound has a great taste as well... reminds me of the movie "Recruit".

If you are really into hacking, this game is the choice for you.

this game is basics simple and frustratingly hard. this combines timing, knowlegde, memory, and cunning. you hack banks, jails, companys, and people's homes and schools. this game is challenging and extreamly addictive. there is no way you can get tired of this game. there are so many places to hack you can never get them all
