Good value - a few minor issues... October 22, 2008
I bought these speakers about 3 years ago, and am still using them today. Upon arrival, they sounded good, but when cranked up to higher levels, some internal part of the subwoofer would rattle. I tried to find the cause, but I ended up giving up, and just dealing with it. At low levels of volume, they sound amazing, but at medium to high levels, they get that slight rattle. I will say however, that you do get used to it quite quickly, and its no longer a real issue for me.
As for output, these are definitely a good choice for the average college student. They've got plenty of volume for the individual, and they even hold up at small parties. I've gotten a ton of noise complaints over the years, so I guess I can't really criticize the volume at all. Also pretty good for watching movies - crisp treble, and heavy bass.
As for looks and function - it is what it is. Definitely looks a lot more interesting than your typical speaker, and fits fine on an average desk, along with a laptop and printer. Volume knobs and buttons are very sleek and simple to use, no complaint there. I've heard others complain about the positioning of the power button (on the back of the woofer), but I don't mind it at all. I suppose this is all a matter of personal preference.
Where this product really shines is its endurance. I've put these speakers through hell - plenty of parties, a few falls off of my desk (even the subwoofer), and quite a lot of maxed-out volume sessions. All that, and they still sound as good as when I first got them.
I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap, but effective, audio setup. Great choice for college students who listen to a lot of music. The sound isn't perfect, but it's great for the price.

These speakers are highly exalted above your normal computer speakers. As soon as you hook up the 2.1 System is sounds like you have a BOSE system throughout the entire room. Those who object to this, you must have gotten a defect or you probably drop it walking out of the store. I love blasting this baby in my dorm. People 2 to 3 doors down the hall can hear and feel the thumping from the SUB. I would highly recommend buying this if you are looking to buy speakers for your computer or ipod.
Great Speaker March 8, 2008
We got this for our mac. It's great and it's been working no problem a year. I liked a lot that I got it for my work pc's. Bass is pretty good and 2 speaker is small that it doesn't take up space on the side of the monitor.
Great product and reasonable with this good quality.

Great sound! I can't believe it is coming from plastic speakers.
Great looks! I like this a lot more than the later JBL speaker designs. (So maybe I like Darth Vader a lot - before he was "humanized")

These speakers truly sound amazing. I have owned many sets of PC speakers in the past and these are one of the best in terms of sound quality and price. Simply a great deal.
