This thing is awesome for your slim PS2: -looks nice -car adaptor -remote control that gives full DVD control AND resets, turn on/off THE PS2! (I found this out myself, haven't seen this mentioned anywhere) -best picture quality for games or DVDs -great sound! ... Really! -not too easy to find online in the US mostly in the UK. Exceeds expectations! April 3, 2008 This is the best LCD screen for a console period.
Pros - Full 640x480 support - remote control - supports various settings, game/dvd - car adapter - easy to install - ALLOWS PASS THROUGH! You can hook up this monitor, AND still send video out to another source and run 1 or both - excellent sound - durable - settings/controls on the monitor or the remote - remote comes w/ battery installed
cons - a bit heavy - can cause PS2 to get very warm if in the down position - 4x3 only, no widescreen - does not support 480p out - no swivel
Great video, horrible audio..... March 24, 2008 I picked this up the other day and its a really good screen. It fits perfectly on the slim ps2 (it comes with mounting brackets for the newer slim ps2s). The video is exceptional with no ghosting. Text is easy to read and the colors are incredible. I would give the video display a 9.5/10. The problem comes with the horrible, and I do mean horrible, audio. The speakers give out teeny sound which is expected. The problem is when using headphones, the sound is painful. Even at low levels, some sound came out distorted. All in all, this is a fantastic screen to look at. DVDs look incredible and ps2 games look fantastic. If you can get past the crappy sound it gives off, this is a must buy....
Very nice screen February 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After researching other portable screens, I went with this one since it offers standard NTSC 640 x 480 resolution and not a downsampled lower resolution.
It mostly works as advertised. For some reason our car has to be running for both the screen and the PS2 to power up which is kind of a drag but not a showstopper. The sound is tinny, and small text is slightly harder to read. I still really like it though, and the PS2 it is the best thing to keep kids occupied in the back seat on long distance trips. Games look great on it, and the screen has a pretty good viewable angle.
I've only used it on one trip, but it was great for that. I'm glad I bought it.
Turn your PS/2 into a portable entertainment system January 28, 2008 I was looking for a portable DVD player for my kids. I managed to find a review on this LCD attachment.
Not only do I no longer need a DVD player, but I have a portable gaming system. The Pelican comes with a cigarette adapter for the PS/2. The mini-remote looks like an extended Sony Memory card, and can store in the memory slot on the PS/2. My only complaint about the remote is the battery is tough to find. (I still haven't found a store that stocks it).
Excellent performance on Video. The audio quality is not great (which I subtract one star). The back of the LCD has the normal PS/2 outputs, so you can output this to the AUX of your car stereo if you have that option.
I've owned this unit for about two years now and it hasn't had any problems. I highly recommend it.
PS2 Joytech digital LCD screen December 23, 2007 I've compared similar items from what I could find on the Internet. I looked at screens by Mojoplay and Pelican before deciding on this Joytech model. I have a newer PS2 that doesn't have the screw holes in the back to secure the screen. I heard Joytech has something I could use but so far haven't found any. This screen is definitly the best for the money. I ordered it new at full price. The one I received was priviously owned with scratches all over it. Everything was included and came in its origional box. It worked great and there were no dead pixels. I just expected to get it new since that's what I entered in my selection. If I wanted it used, I would have made my selection as such and payed a lower price. This was my first purchase on Amazon so guess I leared something about how this site works. Overall, I'm satisfied.
