2 out of 5 stars Plotline severely lacking   June 4, 2008

As a horror fan, gaming fan, and forensic freak, I was waiting with baited breath for this to come out. The graphics are something to behold - unbelievable environments and character movement. However, I just cannot get into this game because of the ridiculously laughable plot. In the first mission you are just walking around, and creatures made out of tar start skulking around and attacking you. At this point I have no concept of why I am being attacked by tar-monsters (according to the box this is a story about catching a serial killer). Subsequently, you are attacked by posessed baby dolls, freaks in chain-mail, a wild, posessed grizzly bear (who somehow knows exactly where you are at any time inside a building complex), and the "alcohol monster" which is YOU with some mummy-face. Now I am fighting a "mad magic-man", who I have to kill with bottles of booze. Are you kidding me? This plot is pathetic! What a waste! Can someone also please explain how you can somehow transmit tissue samples to the lab using your PDA while you are standing in the wilderness. Come on man! This is so dumb! I am very disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Must Experience   May 30, 2008

I was skeptical about this game after playing the demo, seemed too much like Resident Evil or Silent Hill. But after seeing so many good reviews I bought it and I am not dissapointed. This is the first game I've played in awhile that actually made me litterally jump out of my seat quite a few times. Great story line, amazing graphics, the voice acting is also done quite well. Many extras to unlock so even after beating the game once, you'll want to defeat it many times. Overall, I loved this game. Hope they make another one soon. I'll be playing this game over and over again. Buy it!

5 out of 5 stars Condemned 2   May 24, 2008

It's a 1st person action game, not primarily a shooter. You basically take the role of a detective trying to figure things out. Graphics are fairly polished, sounds is minimal but very atmospheric and gets you in the mood. It controls like most 1st person games, but in this the emphasis is less on spraying bullets and more on using available resources.

Overall I rate this highly because it's different from your standard 1st person game. It does a good job of getting you into the character. It has decent production values and in the end, when I finshed it I felt satisfied.

4 out of 5 stars Great Game. Good plot. Great Sound effects.   May 14, 2008

I have beaten half of this game and have not been dissapointed. The graphics on HD are pretty good (even though it is only 720p). The plot is great and very surreal and full of suspense along with the cutscenes which thicken the plot. I would have enjoyed a few more cutscenes to give me more clues about the plot. The fighting system is surprisingly good for being basically a first-person fighting/shooting game. If you are in to games such as Silent Hill or Resident Evil you will really enjoy this.

2 out of 5 stars An unmentioned absolute requirement is an HDTV I guess. Not really playable on regular TV.   May 6, 2008

I played the first Condemned on PC and found it a lot of fun and enjoyed it immensely. I have a PS3 and when Bloodshot came out, I got it with high hopes. I guess it's a good game, but I can't judge. EVERY word on the screen during investigations is illegible. I've tried every TV I have (none HD) and the words are always illegible. I checked other games just to see if I had lost 90% of my vision overnight but the other games come in clear Just this one game is illegible. I completely takes me out of the game and ruins any continuity. I have to go online and look the GameFAQS guide just to get an idea of the answers I have to choose from. This game is nearly UNPLAYABLE on a regular TV. I gave it 2 stars because the game itself is fun, and I still get to hit crack heads with a 2x4 and nails, but if I want to achieve any goals or get a good performance rating without going online to find out what I'm supposed to be reading, it's going to cost me the price of an new HDtv.
edit - Other ppl's reviews mention an audio issue. I have not had any. I'm only using RCA plugs to a non-HDtv, though.
