A true masterpiece! August 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Lost Planet Colonies is one of the first games to be linked with Xbox Live (Microsoft Live). The campeign is fun but this game was truly made for online play. Unlike the original Lost Planet, Lost Planet Colonies offers new single player modes and more online options such as Akrid Hunter, Egg bandit, VS. annhilator and others or just regular Team elimination . There are also some new guns! My personal favorite being the "Hand Cannon" similar to the rocket launcher and bringing no scoping to a new level ;D. I HIGHLY recomend you also get an Xbox controller that connects with your PC for this game due to the fact the keyboard controls are confusing and troublesome. Since you're connected to Xbox Live you have to pay for Xbox Live. It costs $50 a year but you can buy smaller time periods but the year is by far the best deal! But the upside to being connected to Xbox Live is there are LOTS of games so you can play when you want to! So please Buy the game! I look forward to owning you online with my no scoping RPG weapons! And please add me to your friends list! Sincerely fellow L.P.C. addict, KingChameleo (Currently grounded :....( )
Cool... June 24, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I already finished this game and the campaing mode is very fun and with tons of action and movie like scenes, the graphics are just crazy, in overall this game is what I was looking for, now here comes the bad thing, theres some kind of bug that blocks your achievements, you may finish the game, play houndred of online rounds or anything and you might no see them in your xbox live account, so for others players you havent done anything in the game, and the sad thing is you cant find any players for pc, if you want to play online you must play in xbox live thing and you have only a month for free so you can play with xbox 360 players, after that month what happen?
now talking about my specs:
A not so fast Intel Core 2 Duo. 1GB ddr2 667mhz nvidia geforce 8600gt xxx ddr3 256mb creative audigy sound card windows xp professional sp2
thats all... and I can play this game with almost all settings on high.
Great single player, even better multiplayer June 4, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Let me start by saying I didn't own the original Lost Planet before I bought this, I tried the demo on the 360 but didn't like the controls so I was holding out for the PC version to get a price cut on steam when this was announced and costs $10 less so of course I picked it up. So far I am really enjoying the campaign...the Akrid (giant bug) deaths remind me of the T-1000 shattering in Terminator 2 :) There are some pretty sweet weapons in Colonies, 10 more than the original LP so if you haven't already played through the original but are interested in it I say buy it if you can find it. As for the multiplayer the is a LOT of value in Colonies....but I honestly have to say unless you have or are going to purchase a Live Gold subscription (like me) don't make multiplayer your main reason for getting Colonies although I must say the cross-platform play is flawless for me so far. Keep in mind that you'll meed a fairly beefy PC to run it as well. To sum it up:
Campaign = great for first timers
Multiplayer = great if you have a LIVE Gold account
High PC requirements, I'm running XP with
Q6600 @ 2.7Ghz
4GB of 800Mhz DDR2 RAM (windows only sees 2.7GB)
Nvidia 8800GT 512
and I average around 50fps with most settings on high
