3 out of 5 stars A okay expansion pack   June 24, 2000
Heroes of Might and Magic 2: The Price of Loyalty is a okay add-on with a few changes to the game. 4 new campaigns have been added with 2 long and 2 short ones depending on how long you want to play. Only 1 new building has been added which is sort of a bummer and it is only for the necromancers. A few new event places have been added and a couple of new artifacts, so if you are looking for something worth your money then go for Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

4 out of 5 stars Good expansion for a great game.   June 19, 2000

Heroes of Might and Magic 2: The Price of Loyalty gives you a half-dozen more campaigns and oodles more scenarios to extend the life of HOMM II--a game with an already lengthy play-life.

There are only two downsides to this expansion: A rule change makes it possible for you to have ghosts in your army. Bad news because, of course, whoever gets ghosts firsts is more-or-less guaranteed a win. (Any troop killed by a ghost becomes a ghost, so all you have to do is attack a stack of weak, numerous troops and you have an instant army.)

But this is an easily ignored point if you skip the scenarios with ghosts. The only other downside, really, is just that it's basically just another expansion pack. More of the same. Great stuff, but nothing particularly new.

But then, that's why there's Heroes of Might and Magic III.

4 out of 5 stars Good... but not great   June 13, 2000
I have to admit, Heroes 2 is a good game. It has action, and stratigy, etc. But it misses out on graphics. The graphics are ok, don't get me wrong, but once you have played Heroes III, there is no comparision. The basic gameplay is that you are the king and you are commanding different heroes who command troops. You have many different kinds of troops including Dragons, Halflings, Sprites, and Elfs. You build things in your city in a turn-based manner: One building a day (if you can afford it). The battles are also turn based, depending on the speed of the unit. The expansion is worth it. You get a bunch of new missions and quests that are really exciting. You also get a new building for the Necromancer city, and tons of more stuff. I think that the origional doesn't start with enough missions anyways, so this will increase the fun. I enjoyed mostly Erik the Jerk mission, and Roc around the Clock, because the map basis is a gigantic clock! You also get a lot more heroes to command your armies. Great game!
