Good game July 2, 2008 Got the game for my Grandson and he hasn't stopped playing with it since. He and his Dad play none stop.
Definitely feelin' like a Guitar Hero. July 2, 2008 I had wanted this game for the longest time. After being broke with no job for forever and a day, the day finally came when I found myself employed and with a first paycheck. Totally blew it on this Guitar Hero III bundle after checking out the track list online. With classics such as Barracuda, Mississippi Queen, Paint It Black, and La Grange, I don't see how anybody couldn't feel like a rock star playing through the broad song list.
I heard everybody talking about how the wireless controller gave them mass amounts of problems and I was a little concerned if I'd suffer the same fate. No dice. The thing works beautifully. At times, I have to push and hold the button on the receiver while simultaneously pushing any random button on the guitar before I'm all set but it's nothing problematic. The wireless controller allows for so much movement and spastic dancing that you wouldn't dare show off to anybody sober. It's definitely an upgrade over the wired controllers.
The boss battles are a pointless aspect to the game and the only bad apple I can find to mention. The career mood and points you accumulate throughout the game make for a fun shopping spree in the store where outfits, guitars, characters and extra songs are available for purchase. Not too crazy about the extra songs, maybe my music knowledge isn't that expansive, but it's still fun to play through them.
Overall, the game is fantastic. Best way to blow a first paycheck and a perfect way to start off a party or just a perfect way to pretend to be a rock star. I definitely recommend it.
Great Game! June 30, 2008 This was a father's day gift for my husband and he loves it. He plays it every night. Our son loves it as well and I am getting better at it every day. It's much more challenging than you think. Highly recommend!
Guitar Hero June 28, 2008 Guitar Hero is a game that is simple but fun and addictive. The four levels of difficulty are perfect so that someone who is just learning can play alongside with someone who has played the game many a time. Overall, a good buy
Never too old! June 27, 2008 I am 41 and this was the first GH that I had purchased. It was $49.99 as a LD and I couldn't resist, having always wanted to try it.
I love it! My husband and I have a blast playing it, we have to get another guitar because we are beginning to argue over who gets to play.
From other reviews, I was a little worried about the wireless controller. I live in an area where trying to use anything wireless can be hit or miss. But I have had no problems with it. I am sure it doesn't take as much abuse as it would if young kids were playing it, but I think it would hold up well.
I think there is a good variety in the set lists. They put something in for almost everyone it seems. I don't know about the boss battles, I have only gotten to 1 so far and I wasn't overly crazy about it.
I was a little disappointed in your choices of character selection. You can "buy" items in the store section of the game using the $$ you make at your gigs. New outfits, guitars, skins, etc.
I have really enjoyed the game, so if you are on the fence thinking "should I or shouldn't I?" I say go for it! You will have a blast and feel like the great guitar legend you always knew you could be.
