A great hunting game! November 24, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Some reviews for this game put it dowm, but I think it's great. You travel to different terrians and hunt many different animals from Whitetail deer to cougars. There is no small game hunting , even though foxes and rabbits come up when looking through your scope. during the game you can buy different weapons and gear. You can chose your weapon to be either a bow, shotgun, pistol,or rifle. All the guns are very detailed, as well as the animals. As a hunter, I know that this game does take alot of the hard work of hunting out of it, but it still is a lot of fun!!!
disappointing- too difficult to be fun November 17, 2006 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The game is too much involved to be enjoyable
Great Game...HORRIBLE PROGRAMMING March 11, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This game is so much fun!!! However, for any type of serious gamer this game is plagued with errors and mishaps.
This game is a pain in the ass. To be completely real, in over 16 years of comprehendable games...this is the worst.
It has excellent game play and all, but the ERROR messages which FORCE you to reset the game after a long hunt (1 hr or so) is not worth it. (I did what the company told me and I got an unknown error message).
THIS GAME SUCKS....DO NOT BUY IT...UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR FRUSTRATION
Game is Fun, but watch out October 11, 2005 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
I like this game. One reviewer mentioned that it is frustrating when you aim and think you are shooting an animal, and all you get is a tree or part of the hill. I agree with that, but it can be part of the fun, but it can also get old pretty quick. It's a fun game, but if it were possible to give this game 0 stars, I would have. The game has a variety of terrains. You start off in the Forest, and if you make it through that, you go to the Marshes, and then on to the Desert, and so on. Well, I made it through part of the Desert terrain twice before I got a big black screen and an "Out of Memory" error. Thought it was a fluke, started out again at my last saved spot, got to the same place and got the same "Out of Memory" error. I wrote to Activision. They said that I purchased too much stuff at the "store", and that I should only keep what I think I'm going to use for each area. (I didn't see this suggestion in the book.) So, I tried it, even though I thought that if a game allows the player to do something, then it shouldn't give you an "out of memory" error if you do it. Then you have to resort to contacting the company to find out what you need to do to avoid it. If the game lets you do it, then the game should be programmed, or at least not released until these bugs are fixed. Anyway, I did what they suggested...didn't even get past the "Marshes" before getting the same error. This game sucks....even though it's a blast to play. I have a pretty big PS2 game library, and I have never encountered a game that had these kinds of bugs. Don't waste your money on this game, unless you can get it for a couple of bucks, because that's about all the game time you can expect to get out of it.
Graphics are gorgeous; game frustrating at first March 8, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
It works ok on my computer, except that in the final campaign I can no longer access my inventory and re-installing didn't help. In the first scenario, when you are hunting in the "jungle of South Dakota" the trees and brush are so thick you can't see your quarry. The red dots aren't much help, because the animals can be ten feet from you or ten miles away. When you finally manage to get out of the initial scenario, the game picks up and becomes quite enjoyable. But my hunter keeps fainting, for no apparent reason, even when he's wearing proper clothing and I keep plying him with food and drinks and keep him at a walk. Very annoying when you've finally hit a big horn sheep with the requisite bow-and-arrow, and your hunter faints! (What a wimp!) It's kind of neat when a bear or other predator sneaks up on you and mauls you. (No, really!) Though I doubt if the game warden would merely find you unconscious after you've been mauled by a grizzly! The graphics after the first scenario are gorgeous and highly detailed. Except for these really lovely graphics, there isn't much to recommend it over the many other hunting games on the market. Oh, well - buy it on sale!
