5 out of 5 stars Stop the Imports   November 29, 2007

Beware of the 'EA Classics' Version of this game advertised under 'New'. These are not the Official Eidos/Squaresoft Platinum Edition. Also Electronic Arts were never associated with Final Fantasy VII so the 'EA Classics' does NOT mean 'Electronic Arts'. The ones advertised are Bootleg Imports from Asia. Please support the Official USA version of the game and stop sellers from selling the illegal version.

5 out of 5 stars $150 ? , what is new in the game ?   December 28, 2006

For $150 it better have something in it way new and it better not be just another port because I love the game but if there is nothing that stands out that it would be price at $150 then it most likely not worth it.

5 out of 5 stars Exploiting another good game during winter season   September 7, 2006

It always seems that during the holidays or other big shopping days all of the retailers and websites like to rip us off. I mean not a month ago i purchase this same game for 19.99 brand new in its original case from fry's. I dont know why amazon and other companies want to exploit ff7 and make it this "RARE" game noone can find. It makes me sick to my stomach. Well good luck finding this game for under 80 dollars anywhere now that cerebus came out and thanx again mainstream pigs for making a gamers life a bit more expensive.....

5 out of 5 stars A perfect translation of the Classic Playstation RPG   January 16, 2006

If you liked this review, feel free to click my name and check out my others.

One of the best selling games of all time. This is a practically perfect translation of the Sony Playstation title for PC users. Follow the adventure of a mercenary and his band of adventurers seeking to protect the earth from certain destruction at the hands of a vicious corporation, an unstoppable warrior, and black destructive magic that in the wrong hands could doom the planet.

If you are a fan of more recent FF titles like FFX X2 or XI, you will be disappointed by the graphics. However, don't let that deter you from the action, the mystery, and the story that has kept this reviewer coming back to the game every year. The game features a fully navigable globe allowing you to explore dozens of towns, caves, and even regions underwater! I might add though that this is a long game. The first act plays out like a cyber-punk fantasy completely enclosed within the walls of a dark and polluted super-metropolis. By the time most other games have been beaten, you're finally leaving the city to discover the world outside. That's when the real fun begins.

The game play on this title is also a high point. The systems by which magic and other abilities are managed is fairly easy to understand and fun to experiment with. Those who seek to find new and more effective combinations of magic, skills, and weapons will find themselves addicted to strategizing in this game. The cinematic effects during battle are something to see too. there's something exhilerating about calling a dragon down from the sky to dispatch punishment on some tough enemies.

Having played both the PS and PC versions, I have to say I am partial to the PC version. It offers identical gameplay with the bonus that your PC allows you to save an insane amount of game data, take screen shots, or even collect video. Also, there are plenty of fansites on the web offering free downloads of patches, hacks, and editors if you'd like to experiment with characters, items, and magic.

Check it out. It's a true classic.
