Battleship September 30, 2008 BATTLESHIP: SURFACE THUNDER! Ver 1.0 (By Hasbro or Infogames) This game is in the class of the graphic Windows 95 games such as Wolfenstein or Doom. I just recently began to play the game. I prefer the keyboard. It's a little frustrating at first, that is, until one learns the appropriate keys to use. Furthermore, the shooting graphics may be disappointing to some. I can't complain because the game was quite affordable and frankly, a rare find for us "old school" gamers.
Excellent Rendition of the Popular Board Game October 21, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Battleship has always been one of my favorite games since I was a child, and I was thrilled to find this great computer version. The installation is quick and easy, and the graphics are excellent.
There are several different choices, from beginning combat where you fire at the enemy fleet on a grid, much like the regular game, to more advanced choices, such as satellite strikes, missions against oil platforms, amd carrier bomber missions.
The sound of the ships firing at each other is one of the highlights of the game, but delivering the coup de grace to your enemy's battleship is the best part.
I give this great game my highest recommendation. The combat sequences are first-rate and the action is non-stop. Put this cd in and experience some awesome naval combat. You might even hear your opponent say "You sank my battleship"!
THE CLASSIC MARITIME MASSACRE November 29, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Hasbro has successfully updated several traditionally favorite board games to video status, and none more successfully than Battleship. This interactive game preserves all the charm of the original three-dimensional version but the set-up, speed of play, and way-cool graphics take the fun to a whole new level. But in addition to the computerized classic Battleship game, this CD-ROM offers a wide choice of "Ultimate Battleship" scenarios that allow you to experience the full spectrum of naval warfare: ballistic missile submarines, roving ASW helicoptors, bombers that swoop down like birds of prey on massive Supercarriers and the interceptors that rise to meet them...and of course, the 16-inch ultraguns of the armored dreadnoughts themselves. Capture enemy islands, lay and evade mines, protect your own supply ships while plundering your foes, and in at least one scenario race against nuclear oblivion. Easy-to-grasp rules add up with the great tactical action to equal maximum replayability for the whole family, from PC novices to wargame fanatics. Highly recommended!
OK... Reveiw June 25, 2002 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I would consider this game OK. The graphics are OK the sound, all of that stuff is OK.But I still could see a better Battleship Game.
Alright July 6, 2000 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Battleship on a computer is slightly more fun on a computer than on the board game because you don't need to worry about loosing the pieces and keeping track of hits and misses. However, the game is has little replay ability and gets old quickly.
