Doesn't work on my Intel Mac August 19, 2008 I originally bought this game for my Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz but received and error message stating that the game is not supported. (I believe Myst URU Live is the only of the Myst series to work on Intel Macs) I was, however, able to install this on my Windows XP PC so it wasn't a total waste. The game is beautiful and the puzzles are fairly challenging. I give this game a favorable review for content and not for compatiblity.
Most interesting Myst I've played July 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ok, I was fascinated by the original Myst back when it came out. However, after awhile it got boring, too many puzzles and, for me, not enough storyline aspects. I have the same feelings about Riven and Exile. Myst Revelation is much better from this standpoint, and the in-game journal/camera makes things much easier as far as getting the clues one needs (I'm horrible at sketching). There is also much more information surrounding the characters, giving more dimension to the mystery. For whatever reason, the puzzles are easier for me in this game, although it may be because I'm more engaged with getting to the next step to find more clues. Haven't finished a full game yet, just having fun taking my time to get there. Beautiful graphics, game works perfectly on my Vista platform.
Excellent May 21, 2008 One of the most outstanding Adventure games that I've ever played. I have a library of Myst games. Outstanding!
amazing! April 5, 2008 If you've ever played a myst game before and enjoyed it, there is no question. BUY THIS GAME! Some of the puzzles are extremely hard, and you have to make sure you download the patches from the games website. The environments are so detailed and lush I can't imagine how it must have been created. The movements appear much clearer than the movements in Exile, with so many detailed moving objects. A great new feature is a camera that you can use during the game to record important clue images in your environments. Some of the acting is a little corny but that kind of just adds to the surreal feel. All in all this is a GREAT game. Be prepared to play for months.
Engaging and immersive... March 25, 2008 Just finished Revelation. I can't say I did it 100% on my own, but with a little assistance from time to time from Internet walkthroughs, I am satisfied with the outcome. Some of the puzzles in this installment are difficult. Just a hint; take care to record everything throughout the game, since the later solutions were found in seemingly obscure clues in other ages earlier in the game. A nice touch on Revelation is the snapshot camera. Potential clues to later puzzles can be photographed and a device keeps track of your snapshots. Endlessly useful and allows for many less written notes than earlier Myst installments. My problem was that I didn't record some key clues in the form of snapshots, so I was missing this information later in the game. My recommendation is: take photos of everything. The movie cuts in Revelation draw you into the Myst world and the use of live actors in well played cut scenes really make you feel like a part of the story. Even with the occasional help, I still felt like I accomplished something at the end of the game. Movement through the ages in Revelation are by click and redraw, but the ability to look around is better than earlier Mysts. There is plenty of live action rather then just being presented with photographs. Each installment gets better and better in this regard.
