4 out of 5 stars From the beginning until 2006!   June 5, 2008
I remember reading some of my brothers Iron Man comics when I was little. I was never able to start from the beginning and read all the way through. Well, no longer is that the case.

This is a great way to get the "real" story originally derived by the authors of some of the greatest comics of all time.

The price cannot be beat, the packaging is nice and the PDF are easy to read, enlarge well and look great given the age of the older books.

On my 19" monitor, I can have a 2 page spread open and be readable, then scroll between pages using my scroll wheel. Small screens or larger resolutions might need to increase the magnification.

My only grip and it is a small nit - is the quality of the originals that were scanned. I don't mind the staples or the old adds...but what is annoying at times is the bleeding of the lettering from the printing process, the holes in some of the pages made the words unreadable. I find this most prevalent in the 1960's era books, but the fact that they still have the books in as good a shape as they do is more important.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome product!   June 5, 2008
I've been an Iron Man fan since the early 80s, and after seeing the movie I wished that I could read the old comics again. With this, I can! Works fine on my PC so far, no problems with any of the files.

5 out of 5 stars It really is like having the comics on your computer!   May 24, 2008
Apparently I was one of the last people to get this directly from Amazon before the Iron Man movie came out. I have to say this is an amazing deal. Not only do you get the complete comic story but also those wonderful dated ads too! The scans are true to the actual comics too. Early 1960's and 70's had brighter colors and better paper and scan well but into the 80's when Marvel (DC too) used cheaper papers the scans reflect the actual print (I held up the original Iron Man #129 to the DVD version and the DVD version was easier to read!). I have a wide screen monitor and so I can read two full pages at a time and it is like having the real comic in my hands. If you don't have a widescreen no problem either. It uses Adobe Acrobat PDF reader so you can adjust it to your needs. Very well done interface. I downloaded the complete set to my harddrive so I don't have to use the DVD all the time (about 6 gigabytes of data). Now that Marvel will no longer license these except to rent on their web site this is like owning your own collection for real!). I saw a small subset of the real comics on ebay go for over $1500. This is a wonderful deal but get them if you can find them. They won't be coming this way again. The interface is simple to use just click on the decade you want to start with ('60's to 2000's) and then select the year. It even has the annuals and a few nice extras. One drawback is for stories that continue in another title (example: Iron man #35 first series continued into Daredevil #73 but the DVD does not have the daredevil issue) even so it is still more than worth it. Very, very happy!

5 out of 5 stars An invincible collection just in time for the movie!   April 13, 2008

GIT really did a fine job with these comic collections. Too bad Marvel is now going totally online and won't let anyone have the actual comics in hand anymore. *sigh* Oh, well -- but if you can get it used (or from GIT), go for it. It's definitely worth the money!

5 out of 5 stars Totally Invincible!   March 20, 2008

Before I bought this I hadn't read very many of these comics. My paper collection only has a few issues. I am glad I can read the whole story, including the "alternate world" storyline from 96. This is a great addition to my collection and will provide me with years of reading enjoyment. I give it 10 stars!!!
