1 out of 5 stars Pass This Game up   November 3, 2005
After playing Need For Speed this game is a waste of money. I have 2 good controllers and neither works well with this game. It took a couple of tries to load it on my computer (which is a year old Dell with specs that are way above what this game calls for)and it doesn't play well at all. NFS Underground 2 works great on my computer and I was surprised how bad this game is. I think they spent all their time on the graphics and none on making this a good game. I hope it is better on the game systems otherwise it should have never been put out.

1 out of 5 stars Poorly Designed   September 22, 2005

The only positive aspect of this game is the substantial number of cars. This is in comparison to, for example, Need for Speed Underground 2. However, this positive point is greatly overshadowed by the poor design decisions that made this game a stinker. I hope the engineers and managers that worked on this title read this, because they deserve a slap on the wrist. The artificial intelligence of the computer racers definitely does not scale to the difficulty level of the game. Once you've been playing career mode after a while, the computer essentially starts to race in a near perfect manner. Even if computer is driving a stock Celica with little to no modifications, that car will still beat your souped up CR-X with prototype level upgrades. The pink slip races are a joke, as there is almost no way for you to win. The physics are a joke as well. When you hit the tail of a computer vehicle, the computer vehicle never sways, and you end up spinning out and hitting the side rails. When you get hit by the computer, you lose control, spin out, and the computer overtakes you. On top of unrealistic and borderline absurd physics, the graphics are subpar at best. The motion blur effect of nitrous usage has a slight wow factor, but that's about it. Even with level 4 anti-aliasing turned on, the world detail jagged edges remain. In my opinion, the engineers and managers that wrote and designed this game need to be fired, because they did a horrible job of making a game that is way off-course in reflecting real world physics, and with difficulty levels that will make almost any player thrown down the control or punch the monitor with digust. Shame on you THQ, what a waste of my time and money.

2 out of 5 stars THQ = Poo.   June 23, 2005

Being an avid gamer playing nearly all games that are being released these days, I was happy when I found another street race type game coming out. Having beat NFSU2 and being very happy with that product, I was hoping that this would stand up to it and even surpass it.

After all my friends were blah blahing aboutt the game being so good, I decided to go pick it up from the store. In a short little point form thinger, I will list why I think this game sucks.

1. Career mode is absolutely retarded. Cars that are way worse than yours will still rape you.
2. Respect points. OK. so when they slam into me, shouldn't they be losing respect from me?
3. The fact when you go broke, you are broke forever.
4. Racing your crewmates is ridiculous. All they do is make you lose money (which you cannot afford trust me) and respect like hell because they are so far behind at the end of the race its ridiculous. Vito slowed down to under 15 MPH through a turn once. Ridiculous.

I haven't even really played the game much. But I ain't gonna be playing it much longer.

3 out of 5 stars Not good enough   June 21, 2005

This game has had numerous delays including not having a publisher for over a year. It is late to market yet plays like it is 2 years old. Having tried *ALL* of the recent racing titles my favorite is still Need For Speed Underground 2. NFSU2 has its faults, but it is still the best of the bunch in this genre.

For the first hour this game is fun. The AI does not scale for SH*T!. In the higher end classes, even sprinters with up to 1/3 less hp will own your ass; and forget about circuit racing.. competitors will bump and wreck your ass while YOU loose rep points, and cash having to repair your car. If you are curious about this title.. save your cash and pirate this sh*t, as it is not worth the money. I truly wish I had purchased chess or anything other than this tripe. Hey THQ, beta much?
