BOYCOTT STARFORCE January 26, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I will no longer buy or play game with STARFORCE on it. Too bad, this is is a game that I really wanted to play, but I will not bend over for STARFORCE. I've only have minor problem with STARFORCE, and while I am against illegal copying, I am also agaisnt destruction of personal property. Just in case you don't know, STARFORCE is one of the software protection programs that many game publishers use to protect their software from illegal copying, which is all right. However, unlike the other software protection programs, STARFORCE CAN DEGRADE THE PERFORMANCE OF YOUR CD/DVD BURNER, MAKING IT SLOWER, and, according to some people, screwed up their optical drive totally. At any rate, please do some research on your own and decide for yourself if STARFORCE is a malware or not before installing any game with STARFORCE on your computer.
blah December 15, 2006 graphics range from okay to even with options turned all the way up, voice acting really sucks, overall gameplay is crappy and unfinished. Actions are slow.
It is one of those games where you constantly have to save people. If some moron npc walks onto your grenade you get to restart level - yay!
This should of stayed vaporware.
Buyer Beware December 5, 2006 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
DIRT could have been a fun game. The graphics are ok and the story line is a bit lacking in certain areas but these two don't bring the game down. Often times the effects are mudane and the sound is missing. Fire a gun and hear the shots every other 10 seconds & the voice acting is horrible. You have the option of autosave or save in game, regardless you start at the beginning of the level every time. You often save people who say, "Here, take this!" and yet they give you nothing... very very buggy. And, of course, the icing on the cake... STARFORCE!!! No thanx, I refuse to install any game with starforce. If you need to know more about SF check this site out. Hope this helps!
Dir t - Origin of the Species November 17, 2006 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
This game is real fun - I love it! The storyline is basically about a girl (Dirt) that has had her DNA modified by her father who was a top Scientist. Her DNA has been spliced with alien DNA which has meant that as she has got older she developed some crazy special powers (bit like X-Men). The game play is real fun especially with all the cool special powers...they really make this game for me big time!
There are some really clever puzzles to solve using some of the special powers like setting boxes on fire with the pyrokinesis special power and then throwing them into a room with the telekinesis special power to triggering fire extinguishers. Also I've found some brilliant game play with the telekinesis special power to control bullets around corners and down alleyways to trigger switches - truly brilliant! The razor disk is one of my favourites though as you can decapitate up to 8 enemies at a time...the disk slices up some of the characters in different gruesome ways actually but I love the decapitations:-) I think the cleverest thing about this game is that there are many ways to solve puzzles / kill enemies, the more I play it the better I'm becoming at getting to grips with all the special powers. Also, the combo stuff is great and I'm just mastering that now. This is a breath of fresh air for me - I'd definitely recommend this game hands down.
Summer Release April 13, 2006 3 out of 14 found this review helpful
I emailed their PR team and they're saying the game will probably be released by summer. It'll be worth the wait though because it does look like a lot of fun.
