Amazon.com Review
WWF No Mercy picks up exactly where Wrestlemania 2000 left off--it uses the same wrestling engine as its predecessor, only with more wrestlers, more match types, and other additions that will make hard-core wrestling fans devilishly happy.

For starters, there are 65-plus wrestlers, including old- and new-schoolers, tossed onto carefully copied sets like Wrestlemania and SmackDown. There are also new backstage areas, like the sharply detailed bar, which incorporates a pool table for optimal slammage.

New matches, such as the ladder match and guest-referee match, offer numerous possibilities, like using the ladder as a springboard, or ignoring pins when taking control of the official. Weapons also abound, and now these items can be hurled around, even from the floor to the ring, where they're likely to hit a clueless opponent. A story mode adds tremendous replay value to this one, giving players the option of turning good or bad, with a variety of consequences that are based on that decision.

As stated, the game plays just like Wrestlemania 2000--meaning the same degree of slowdown and questionable artificial intelligence. The slowdown particularly hampers the game when many wrestlers take the ring at once; it seems that this title pushes the Nintendo 64 to the limit, as far as on-screen action goes.

But the game's good points more than outweigh its bad, and, all told, No Mercy will satisfy wrestling fans who are looking for a taste of their favorite male melodrama. --Robb Guido

Pros:

  • Overwhelming number of wrestlers, complete with special moves
  • Excellent novelty matches, and plenty of weapons for clobbering opponents
Cons:
  • Big-time slowdown when the action starts to heat up in the ring

Amazon.com Product Description
This game has been licensed by the World Wrestling Foundation (WWF) to bring all of the wrestlers, matches, and moves of the real thing to your Nintendo 64. Battle with the likes of the Rock and Triple H, or create your own wrestler. The Ladder Match has been added to other game modes, such as King of the Ring and Royal Rumble. Battle up the runway, and pull weapons, like the Singapore Cane, out of the crowd. Earn points to unlock wrestlers and costumes in the SmackDown Mall. Also, players can supplement their totals by loading points that are earned in the Game Boy version of the game to the Nintendo 64 version through the separately sold Transfer Pak.

I do like this game but the game doesn't work. The conditions of the game, (cover) are acceptable, it's a shame this person sold a game that doesn't work.

4 out of 5 stars WAS A SPLENDID WAY TO END THE WWF GAMES ON N64!   February 13, 2006

..Don`t you agree?
Anyways why is it underated on GameSpot but PS1`s WWF SmackDown! 2:Know Your Role got 10% more?!-Well old news anyway. So anyways i think this game is MUCH better than the first 3 WWF SmackDown! games(WWF SmackDown!,WWF SmackDown! 2:KYR and WWF SmackDown! 3:JBI!) it has better graphics and is more authentic than the first 2 SmackDown! games(not JBI)
uhh i dunno what else to say BYE!

3 out of 5 stars no mercy gave wm 00 no mercy but barely   January 17, 2006

this is one of my all time favorite games i glad that they updated it from wm 00 but inserting smackdown mall, championship a big improvement from the very hard road to wrestlemania mode n wm 00 da creatle a wrestle has never been this good u could ever create actors or even urself if u wanted 2 wise idea 2 installed da o so popular ladder match and da enduring iron man match da graphic are good like wrestlemania but could have been better u have the rock looking like he was smoking rock he didn't look like the people's champ he look like the people's crap wario from mario party even looked better than da rock and wario isn't a handsome prince hhh looking like a human jurassic park dinoman the undertaker really looking like a deadman who got infected by some deadly disease billy gunn looking like a goofy donkey kong and da ppv wasn't ever all the way upgrated here it was 2000 and da game creators got some nerves putting 1999 ppvs da wrestler's entrances isn't all the way completed what happened but i have 2 admit that at the ending when da wrestlers win da match they do what they were suppose 2 do at the beginning n da ring they do their trademark poses and moves i don't no y da big show was nclude he was n da wwf n 2000 but i no took some time off but da good thing is he wasn't all da way forgotten if u are a good artist or an imaginative person u could simply create him urself in create a wrestler program of the game the game has some decent beats n da game when i heard some of them i said what ludacris, nelly, and ja rule better watch out those 3 rappers that i just ncluded where very big n 2000 not because of their rapping but their beats help them 2 a little bit i wish we could have had da undertaker rode down da stage n his motorcycle then use it if we wanted 2 during the match or had scsa drive his car like he did n backlash 2000 and then use it a little bit during the match the game also lacked da numbers of arenas there was no heat, no way out, judgement day, uk ppv arena, and fully loaded while this game is very good it is far from being perfect it wasn't enough details in the new backstage areas i wished we could have went outside especially when i was having hardcore matches no commentary like wwf attitude or warzone that could have help da game alot while da crowd reaction to the wresters are good but it could have been even better because when the crowds reactions it sounds like they are not people like they are airplanes or aliens and when they boo the heel wrestlers they sound like horses a little bit mayb that is what da creators used animals and machines instead of real life people i wished they added the hiac and tlc match but there is a trick to actually have the tlc match go fight n a tag team ladder match halfway through the use the announcer's table and get a chair or 2 from the audience and then u have urself a tlc match extra could have be allowed to do high risk moves of the top of the ladder as soon as i went up top while the wrestlers were down knock out they would get back up and do kick the ladder when i would fall and bust my own head dat suck bad this game was great but could have be perfect great

5 out of 5 stars this is a great game   September 7, 2005

Since I got this game fore christmas a few years a go I have played it again and again! I on average still play this game once a week usually more. It has good graphics considering everything, relase date, being on n64 everything. I made myself on the game and went throught the story mode for all the belts and just cant get enough of the game soo much fun, if you love wrestling and have played the other ones such as, wcw nwo world tour or revenge. then you will love this game for sure!! I am giving it a 5 star rating I plan on continually playing it for years to come. I make new wrestlers seems how thats really decent for this game, and use those wrestlers in different modes of game play for fun. but even the top superstars like kane, undertaker ,austin, hhh, are all fun to use no matter what game mode you play! Good multiplayer as well :)! please do buy it you wont regret it, unless you hate wrestling!
