Hard Find February 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an old game. My son had it a while back and trade it in. Now he wanted it back. Had to pay more for it this time around but that's to be expected when video games are not in great demand. It was hard to find but Amazon came through and had the best price. I think he learned his lesson and will think twice before trading another game.

Single greatest 2-D Fighter EVER,hands down... January 26, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This title is the epitome of the 2-D fighting genre. Sure complain about the soundtrack. Complain about the graphics (high quality as they are). The bottom line is that "complaints" about MVC2 are superficial. As a master of the genre, this title has so many levels of complex game play that even the most seasoned player like myself can never truly tame this beast. For instance, anyone who plays the game will learn to do single hyper combos for each member of their team, one right after another. What about the challenge of picking a team that has all aerial hyper combs? Did you know that with a level 5 hyper combo meter (and practice) it's possible to do back to back hypers with a 3 on 1 ender? Ok that last statement was for the hardcore, seriously MVC2 provides hours of game play that you'll never get bored with. The reason this title is so expensive ($60+) is the same reason gold is so valuable. This is a true gem...
Fun game, but be patient! January 12, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Marvel vs Capcom 2 for Xbox is a great game, but be patient. It takes a while to unlock all of the characters, and it also a pretty rare game. If you can find it for under $50, BUY IT!!! I bought mine for $36 pre-owned. (since they stopped making this game, everyone is buying it and selling it for bogus amounts!!)
Solid, rare fighting game with few disappointments August 30, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Being a rare game, this one is sure to cost a bundle, but DO NOT SPEND MUCH MORE THAN $40.00 ON THIS GAME!!! I enjoy this game's 56 characters and it's challenging gameplay, but I can't see paying $60.00+ for a port of a dreamcast game, nno matter how rare it may be (I got it for $24.95 at my local used gaming vendor). First off, if your'e a street fighter or marvel comics fan, this game should pretty much fulfill all your wildest marvel on capcom fantasies. I.E: Juggernaut, Zangief & The Incredible Hulk all on the same team!!! With over 56 such fighters, your character needs are sure to be quencehed. Another plus: Nearly all of the characters(save for goofy characters like say, Amingo, a giant cactus-man)are pretty well-balanced, so you're covered in that area. Also, as I said before, the game is quite challenging, even on some of the lower difficulty settings (gamers new to the fighting genre need not apply!). The replayability is excellent, as it can take months to unlock the missing characters, plus an alternate color and a gallery picture for each character.
My only regrets:
No one can hide the absolutely TERRIBLE soundtrack in this game. No matter what any other reviewer may say, I can guarantee that you will NOT enjoy the music of this game, with its repetitive jazz and boring vocals. In fact, one of the reasons I bought this game was to hear all my favorite street fighter melodies, (such as Guile, Ryu, and M. Bison's themes) but I was extremely dissapointed to find none of them here. What were the creators thinking? This was one of the most immemorable soundtracks of any video game ever!!!
Now that that's past us, let's finally move on to the graphics. You will probably hear that this game has crummy graphics, it's true, but it seems to fit the teme of this game; the marvel characters are sort of cell-shaded, (Windwaker and XIII have this look) creating a true comic-book feel for those characters, and I'm used to the street fighter characters not having the best graphics either, so I'm alright with that. Aside from those, the backgrounds are well done, considering they were made in 2000.
Ultimately, it's up to you whether or not you want to make such an expensive commitment to this game. I would recommend this game to anyone who considers themself an intermediate fighting game player, or a hardcore street fighter & Marvel fan.
